Roy Hodgson savours his Cottage return
Thursday 2nd February 2012, 10:58AM GMT.
West Brom boss Roy Hodgson thanked Fulham fans for their warm reception as he led the Baggies to a point on his first return to Craven Cottage.
Hodgson was applauded warmly last night as he made his first appearance at Fulham since leaving the club for Liverpool 18 months ago.
And the Hawthorns head coach admitted he was touched by the reception from Cottagers fans.
“The crowd were fantastic and everyone at the club was nice to me which was great. I wouldn’t have been as happy had we lost but getting the point and the reception I did made it a wonderful evening,” he said.
“It’s good for me to know that the good times we had here are remembered and appreciated.”
Hodgson saw his present side battle from a goal down to claim a point through Somen Tchoyi’s late equaliser.
And he was happy overall with the Baggies’ display.
He said: “I was really quite pleased with the performance if you take away the last five minutes.
“I think it was a fair point, that we haven’t really been that lucky. I was absolutely delighted with the way we played.”

I think it’s beyond a shadow of doubt that Somen Tchoyi must at least be on the bench for every remaining game of this season. He has proved he can score important goals for us, at premiership level, especially as the more preferred strikers are misfiring, either because of injury or lack of form. Our biggest problem so far this season has been our goalscoring record, I reckon we could have had another 6 points if our strikers were free from injury or on form. Tchoyi must not be underused from now on! Keep the faith! We have hidden talents.

glad someone appreciates his contributions
watched it in the pub last night. the usual 50-odd managers.
”we ay gonna get nuffin with that team”
”what’s he keep pickin Cox for?”
”what’s Odemwingie doin on there?”
”Hodgson ay gorra god clue”
”what’s he brought Tchoyi on for? he just falls over”
was a bit like being on here, but with voices and soundtrack
well done evryone involved. not exactly a classic but an excellent point.

Just an appeal to the E&S really. Would it be possible to have The Samaritans phone number put on the Wolves pages. It really does seem to be getting that bad over there. Somebody said yesterday that they almost feel sorry for them and I can see what he meant.

Good laugh Sherlock!
It’s true – when a team is up and down and inconsistant, it’s hard not to be an armchair manager!
Albion do have some good players and on any given day can do the job. Look at Tchoyi last year – 3 v. Newcastle – probably the best personal match of his career. If only ALL our players were firing on all cylinders at the same time we’d be up with Newcastle right now.

3 Sherlock,
Funny you should say that-
The E&S weren’t very happy last night, because 10 mins. before the end of the game, they received 100 posts saying ‘Hodgson out’,then 10 mins. later there were 100 requests to hold ‘em back until we lose again.
Apparently everyone was very unhappy that we scored, and now blame Roy for stopping us from losing, thus ruining their complaints………

No.4 The Real Bully Hoo
Please Bully no more messages of sympathy or ridicule for the Wulfies . Lets wait for a few days when we may have reason to gloat.
Mind you I hear that the Bilston canal is being dredged to remove the large number of gold and black scarves which are strangling the fish.

Robin.
I will say that while most are losing their heads over there, the humour of some still shines through.
On the Match thread is post 197 from Andy which is brilliant, hilarious and one of the funniest posts I’ve read on here.
On the Steve Morgan goes into the dressing room story the ever reliable PeteNuts @60 made me laugh as well.
Well done to Baggies and Wulfies alike that manage to remember that it’s not life and death and we need to keep a perspective.
PS Every thread on the Wolves side is now closed so perhaps they are acting on my recommendation.

Look on the bright side; home and away, you custards are creamed – that’s not like us, we don’t know if we’re going to win, lose or draw. Hopefullly, our sympathy will not stretch to charity on the 12th!!
Well played Baggies!

Must find a place for “Bamboozle”, He upped the anti when he came on and scored a beautiful goal. Osaze got to the by-line to cross, only Fortune was there for him to hit the ball to. On more than one occasion Fortune was surrounded by white shirts forcing Osaze to shoot from ridiculous angles. Other midfielders should be breaking their necks to get in the area. Also at times Fulham passed their way through our team, tighter marking needed. Our passing game seems lax at times, we couldn’t string two passes together. Plus points Osaze, Fortune, Tchoyi, Welcomed away point, New players can come in now the door is open, Nine points now needed by the bottom three to overcome us if the goal difference is taken into consideration, We are not scratching about in the muck at the bottom of the bird-cage.

Roy says Tchoyi must improve his defensive qualities. We have enough in defence, if we have any more their goalkeeper will be able to join the offensive. Play Fortune out wide and Tchoyi where he can do most damage especially when defenders double up on him and Osaze. With their pace and trickery teams can’t afford to commit too many forward.

tchoyi is unpredictable, thats what every pundit says, well he shouldnt have been brought on in my view, it was unfair to fulham because they didnt know he was going to score, however if he was predictable then with a bit of forsight and because he would have been predictable , theyd have stopped him scoring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! boing boing,

11.Jack. Agreed feller. It also keeps some space for our speedy pair to run into. If you watch clodely where Tchoyi comes from to score, he’s on the left in space, runs across and past their defenders towards centre right and bang.

12.sid. I think I may have worked that one out mate with one small proviso. When you use ‘if’, you are implying the ‘conditional’ tense so it is followed by ‘were’ not ‘was’.
Is that clear or confusing? Other than that, I agree with every word. Lol.

Jack, Jimmy Greaves would never had played a match if we used that as our main criterion, ‘improving his defensive qualities’. It is certainly important to have a solid team approach, but ‘bamboozle’ is our wild card and deserves as much game time as we can give him.
sherlock. I like Tchoyi a lot too. Please make note. And Jack does.
