West Brom target Amauri admits he will leave Juventus next month

Potential West Brom target Amauri has placed English clubs on transfer alert by revealing he will leave Juventus next month.

The Brazil-born Italy international looks set to spark a scramble for his services next month after admitting his time at Juve is coming to an end.

The Baggies enquired about the 31-year-old during the summer transfer window, before he decided to stay in Turin.

Amauri is hoping to remain in Italy when he moves next month but has admitted he would consider moving abroad in the hunt for regular football, after being frozen out since the summer by Juve coach Antonio Conte.

And that could interest the Baggies, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers, who have all kept tabs in the past on the 6ft 1in tall targetman.

Amauri said: “I know in recent weeks offers have come from both Italy and from abroad. I would prefer to stay in Italy, because the national team is still a dream and being here I have more possibilities.

“But one thing is for certain, in January I’m going to play. It’s not a question of money, it’s a question of the length of the contract.

“At 31-years-old it will be the last contract of my life and I have always asked for a three-year deal, partly because I think I can still play three seasons at a high level.”

The former Parma, Chievo and Palermo forward has one full cap for Italy, picked up in 2010 in a friendly against Ivory Coast.

Amauri had previously been selected for a Brazil squad but decided to represent his adopted homeland instead.

West Brom have made defensive reinforcements their top January priority, with Manchester City’s Nedum Onuoha a major target and New York Red Bulls’ United States international Tim Ream also being considered as a loan signing.

But a powerful centre-forward is also a long-term target with boss Roy Hodgson checking out Glasgow Rangers hitman Nikica Jelavic in Wednesday’s Old Firm derby.

The Croatia international looks set to leave Ibrox but the Baggies would be unwilling to meet the current asking price, reportedly as high as £9million, next month.

I thought we had a six foot target man over at the Blues that has cost us very little??

I seem to recall that although Amauri had only scored one goal last season, and couldn’t get a place in the first team,he still had no interest in coming to little ol’ West Brom because we weren’t part of his ‘high ambitions’.

I’m sure the only reason he’d even listen to us is if he feels HE will benefit in some way by going somewhere he doesn’t really want to be.

So if I were JP,I’d say-

‘we don’t want or need you-just keep enjoying those reserve games!’.

Nikica Jelavic,if rangers want approx 7-9 mill for the guy that rules us out.No way will JP pay that.Quite rightly too.
Amauri was not interested before, why would he bother now?I trust roy’s choice 100% either way.I think most of this is newspaper talkk,or agents trying to drum up interest in their players.
From another thread earlier,i saw people still slating JT and shorey??Why?Both are playing very well at present, both have PL experience and both are very important to our first team.Quality is permanent, their earlier form was temporary.

Jelavic has played for Rapid Vienna and Rangers , hardly Premiership quality is it ?.As for Amauri he is 31 , we should be looking for a younger player IMO and i did not see Shorey stuttering against Man City , did you ???.Odemwingie 10 million cannot see anyone paying that for him , just like Peace will not pay 9 million for Jelavic. As for Wayne Bridge cannot see his £ 92 k a week fitting into our wage structure somehow.

Number 2 Baggie Bhoy. Why would anybody pay 10m for Odemwingie?
And why would you break the bank for a player who’s scoring goals against league 1 standard opposition in Scotland?

Just read that Steve Morgan is finally putting some of that 30 million he promised into the club…… apparently he is spending almost 30 quid on getting an extra long bench so that all the players who are suspended or dropped due to poor form can all sit together – I heard it goes round two sides of the ground !!!

Happy new year to all you baggie boys !!!

JT and Shorey are quality prem players. All players have bad games but these to over all are consistent. I would stay away from this guy from Italy and the rangers striker. Get wood back and bring him on in games as a better attacking option than fortune. One or to players will come in if bendnar leaves and maybe tamas. Cox on loan so maybe one loaned in.

that bloke who sells the headbands is now on his way to wulferhampton, and the ol’ recycled Mol.

Apparently,he also sells braces, and after Mick saw part of the guy’s advert that said-

‘come to me if you want to know the best way to ‘keep ‘em up’-

he phoned him to ask if he’d become his new advisor……..

    The Real Bully Hoo.

A 31 year old for big money wanting a 3 year contract. I’d be very surprised.
If QPR will pay £7 mill for a bloke in the SPL then I imagine £10 mill for a player like PO of proven scoring ability in a proper league would be a bargain. It raises the question though what must Shane Long be worth?

    PS Lonely.
I see you’ve presented your backside on here again for a ritual kicking. Well done your posts are always in good humour and don’t plumb the depths. Hope the three of you Mrs Lone, Chewbecca and your good self have a Happy New Year.

You’ve forgotten the ones Mick’s fell out with, make it three rows.

Personaly I think we’re alright as long as injuries don’t creep in,that’s why Roy recalled a couple when he did.
    Good managerial experience.
On that, what’s happening with Mullumbu’s scan taking a long time for a result isn’t it?

    15 Lonely,

    this must be a first-

I’ve never known a wolves fan ask for permission to have a pop at the Baggies.
Very polite. It’s like something from a by-gone age.

Talkin’ of which,Mrs.Rocket bought me a DVD at Xmas of Albion beating Preston in the 1954 F.A. Cup Final, and you wouldn’t believe how things have changed.
I lost count how many crunching tackles came in from both teams, players were flying through the air,but the Ref. didn’t give ONE free-kick unless it was an handball incident or offside, yet there wasn’t a single complaint from any player.
At one point,Tom Finney had two Albion players slide into him, sent him crashing to the ground and gave away a corner, but when he went to take it,the Ref. said it was a goal kick,so Finney just rolled the ball to the Albion ‘keeper and ran away.

NO Suarez cryin’ or ‘imaginary card’ waving.

Anyway,I hope Ref. Atwell does turn up at the Hawthorns tomorrow, because the game’s not ’til Sunday,so he might go back home and not return in time.

Then me mate down the road can officiate the game.

He’s as blind as a Bat,and knows nothing about football,so he’s well qualified up to F.A.standards………

Clearly there’s a troupe of bored sports journalists who have grown tired of discussing the race between Torres and Carrol to take over David Mills’ crown as the most expensive flop in English striking history and now want to spice things up by linking various PL teams with other misfiring frontmen like Jelavic and Amauri.

Meanwhile at the custard bowl Mick is using powerpoint to explain the difference between a “good tackle” and how Wolves play: “He got the ball first, before he wiped him out!”

Can’t see this as worthy of comment really, but if Roys after a good value striker with age and experience on their side, I would rather try and find a Kevin Phillips style who knows where to be when poaching opportunities come along as we have missed out on many chances like that this season (JTs off the post V Man City for example).
