West Bromwich Albion kitman Dave Matthews is on the mend after a battle with cancer.

The father-of-two, who is one of the club’s longest serving staff members, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in May.

It has now been revealed the cancer is in remission but it is not yet known when he will return to work.

Albion spokesman John Simpson said: “Dave visited the training ground last Friday and everyone was delighted to hear that he has responded to treatment and is now in remission.”
