Chris Brunt: We must grab our treble chance
Tuesday 29th November 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
Captain Chris Brunt today warned Albion against complacency as they geared up for a crucial spell of pre-Christmas matches.
The Baggies head for QPR on Saturday before facing Wigan, Blackburn and Newcastle in their next three matches.
Brunt admitted the sequence gives Roy Hodgson’s men a chance to climb the table but he warned players and fans that points will not arrive easily.
“We’ve got games coming up now where we can get a few points,” said the wideman. “But I’m sure all the other teams we’re playing will be saying the same thing. It’s also going to be a difficult spell – around Christmas always is.
“Last season showed that, when we were very poor and didn’t pick up any points.
“It’s important this year we do, otherwise we’ll go into the new year looking over our shoulders, rather than upwards.”
Brunt believes Albion can take heart from Saturday’s display at home to Tottenham despite the 3-1 scoreline in the visitors’ favour.
“When the final whistle goes you can usually tell how you’ve done by the way the fans react,” he said. “And we got a positive reaction.”
Fourteenth-placed Albion will take on a QPR side a point and three places better off and Brunt believes Neil Warnock’s men can match the Baggies’ achievements of last season by surviving their first season back in the Premier League.
“There is no reason the same thing can’t happen again with QPR,” said Brunt.

I think we can beat them but all the same think it will be a free flowing game with a few goals.
Just hope Pete is ready to start? not quite sure of the situation with him after his 15 minutes on saturday? this are the kind of games he can excel in.
My voice has just about cleared from the spurs game so am ready for a loud one.

I see ‘Arry is looking at a £9 million pound move for……… Borja Valero !!!!
Knowing ‘Arry he will come back and win bloody player of the year !!

I always rated Valero. We played him too deep almost tried to make a Mulumbu player with Mowbray. He would have excelled in this team playing just off the striker like Gera in the past couple of games.

Yes Chris I agree we could pick up some pionts but we must learn to take our goal scoring oppertunites better after all Spurs had 3 and sciored 3 if we had took ours that result could have been ever so diffrent

Must show some restraint over the festive season and composure in front of goal. Couple that with the Spurs work-rate and that should see us rejoicing. Come on, we know you can do it.

Just want to say that Morrison had the best game I’ve ever seen him play last week against Spurs and I’ve not been his best fan of late. His work rate was very high along with his tracking back to help the defence out. Well done James and keep it up, at only 24 the futures bright.

Next up Warnock v Albion I don’t like it.
Well you’re talking it up Chris now set an example.
Hope training this weeks been involving getting your head over the ball when you shoot.
That could have swung the game on Saturday Chris.
Great performance though. Is it me or are we back to our passing game since Appys gone?
Obviously the camp is enjoyable again.
Always stuck by Mozza and I think a few others have had a change of heart especialy after Saturday.
Roy doing what he does best, bringing the best out of what he has got.

I remember when Jimmy was injured all season long, it was a quite a loss to us. I’ve alwasy liked him even when at Boro.
Can string a neat pass as well as a stinger of a shot.

Maybe this isn’t the right place to put this, but I think we should take a look at Scott Brown of Celtic. He hasn’t signed a new contract yet and he would beef up our midfield.

Derek,
He was looked at by Tony Mowbray when Tony was our manger.
Report that Tim Ream will only join the Premiership if he is guaranteed a first team place. That can be arranged Tim, if you can guarantee you will play out of your skin every match and ALBION keep their sheets clean. Spit on your hand and shake on it.
