Tim Ream to join West Brom on trial

Thursday 24th November 2011, 11:30AM GMT.

Having already been linked to Arsenal, Ream came with the New York Red Bulls to the Emirates Cup in the summer.

United States defender Tim Ream will join West Brom on trial next month – but they could face competition from Bolton if they try to sign him.

The Baggies have reached an agreement with New York Red Bulls for Ream to train with them for a week during December, as they mull over a January transfer raid.

But Ream will also spend time with Bolton, as Premier League interest hots up in the 24-year-old centre-back.

The Baggies look set to pursue a loan deal for a defender in January with Manchester City’s Nedum Onuoha still a major target and Ream among several others being considered.

But they could find Bolton ready to compete for both players, as they weigh up their options to deal with the likely departure of England international Gary Cahill.

The Trotters look set to cash in on the former Villa man in January to avoid him leaving for free next summer, with Chelsea and Tottenham the leading contenders for his signature.

Linked with Arsenal, can’t be a bad player and probably worth taking a look.

Think the fact we’re actively searching for a centre-back means we can probably expect Tamas to leave at some point.

I agree Dawson must be close to inclusion cant
really understand our interest. Re Odemwinge was
he close to going before season started ? I think
hes unhappy because Shane has replaced him cant see
the two together believe he’ll go in Jan.

There was talk of interest from the Russian team with the unpronounceable name at twice the salary for St.Peter. That may be causing a lot of pain. Regarding Ream, you may be sure if Dan and his team watch and rate a player, the others all want a look too. It’s just as important we hang on to Dan Ashworth as our players.

2- completely agree. It’s all well and good signing players but not if they are gonna hold back people like Dawson. He is only 21 and clearly a talent, there was already a murmur of Everton being interested in him.

Even though Im not an Albion Fan I would like to comment that this chap isn’t that bad! OK he doesnt play in a great league so its a bit difficult to compare him to the likes of the Premiership but if he adapts to life over here he might be a decent signing for anyone of our midlands clubs!

After we beat Bolton last week there was a swell of media interest in Roy as a candidate for the England job again.

As this weekend see’s Roy Vs Harry do you think a win will see Roy installed as favorite ??

i,m pretty sure hodgson is not a qualified physio so someone must be telling him No 24 is “close” to playing.Hodgson said after Arsenal he wanted answers if No 24 wasn,t fit for Bolton…so over to you Peter
with a fully fit Long and Gera, not sure he,ll be missed!!!
just a thought…has Dan sent the scouts to watch Jordan Rhodes?

The Baggies should be looking at the Galaxy’s Omar Gonzalez if they are looking at Tim, Omar is way better.

It’s not about who we are signing, it’s about utilising what we have which happens to be a very strong and young Enland international who has an eye for a goal.

Lets hope Tim Ream don’t pick the ball and start running like Forrest!

All credit to the Baggies they have at LAST got a group of young players who will come good in the near future. Craig Dawson and George Thorne in particular look like making the break through later on this season. I think as a club we should be looking to find a new forward who could play alongside Shane Long who I really rate. I am still not convinced that Peter Odemwingie is fully fit in both body and mind, only time will tell.
Having said all that we MUST hang on to Roy Hodgson so that he can continue to develop the squad and keep us in the Premiership!
    COME ON YOU BAGGIES!
