Nicky Shorey: Shane Long gives us extra dimension
Wednesday 23rd November 2011, 1:29PM GMT.
Defender Nicky Shorey claims Shane Long gives Albion an extra dimension after returning from injury with a match-winning display.
Long came back from a month-long lay-off with the winning goal against Bolton on Saturday – a header set up by Shorey’s cross.
And the left-back, who first played with Long at Reading, is delighted to see him back.
“He has worked hard to get back, that is the type of guy he is, and he gives us that extra dimension,” said Shorey. “He is important for our team because of the way he plays and the way we like to play.
“He unsettles players at the back. Hard work is the platform on which Shane starts from and he knows that if he’s hassling defenders he’s helping us at the back.
“It feels like he’s everywhere on the pitch at times.
“I think he has been frustrated at missing out on the Ireland games but he knows his time will come.”
