West Brom’s Shane Long reveals Villa’s Alan Hutton hasn’t said sorry
Monday 21st November 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
West Brom hero Shane Long today revealed he has not received an apology from Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton for the tackle that broke a bone in his knee.
But the striker insisted he has moved on from the horror challenge after returning from injury to bag the Baggies winner against Bolton on Saturday.
Long fought back from a cracked bone in his knee a fortnight ahead of schedule and capped his return by heading the final goal in Roy Hodgson’s side’s 2-1 win over the Trotters.
And the Republic of Ireland international later revealed he had heard nothing from Villa or Hutton over the challenge that left him sidelined and was branded as “wicked” by Hodgson.
He said: “They obviously thought he had done nothing wrong so there’s nothing for him to apologise for. I’m sure he never meant to crack a bone in my leg so we move on.”
