West Brom striker Shane Long targets shock return against Bolton
Thursday 17th November 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
West Brom striker Shane Long has volunteered for a shock return this weekend – but Baggies boss Roy Hodgson is unlikely to risk his main summer signing.
Long is back from a euphoric Republic of Ireland camp which celebrated the nation’s qualification for the European Championship finals on Tuesday.
The striker missed the match because of the knee injury suffered in the derby with Aston Villa on October 22, after which Long was ruled out for between four to six weeks.
And the player made it clear in Dublin that he was itching to get back into the fray, as the Baggies prepare to face Bolton at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
He said: “Hopefully I can get training and see what it feels like. I’m trying to push it for Saturday and get a few injections. We’ll see what happens.”
But Hodgson said: “I think the six week target will definitely be met and, if we’re lucky, who knows? Since it happened he’s worked unbelievably hard.”

I watched some of the Republic’s game in the week, and it was good to see Shane sitting behind the subs, smiling and laughing-he looked to be in good spirits.
It’s even better to know that he’s getting near to fitness again, and what’s really encouraging is that he can’t wait to get back on the pitch.
Great news.
This would be fantastic news if he could make it, however we have to be careful we don’t rush him back too soon or we risk making things worse.
Here’s hoping.
Boing Boing!!

Great to see Long’s positive bravery after being clogged all over the park by that animal from Villa, Hutton. All the best Shane.
BOING~~~~BOING~~~JtH.

What a great attitude to have. But we must be careful with him. Something of a different attitude to a certain PO who seems never to want to play at the minute unless some specialist or shrink is telling him that he is okay.
Hurry up back Shane – you are a big loss!
Great player with a great attitude. He is obviously keen to get back on the pitch and help the team out rather than sit around on physio beds.
We have 4 top quality forwards in Tchoyi, Odemwingie, Long and Gera. Imagine if we can get them all fit at the same time! I wouldn’t swap those 4 for many strikeforce’s outside the top 6.

Many car crashes could be avoided by letting those few seconds gained go by and remembering the 3 months of misery in its place. Same here Shane. Make haste slowly. We can wait.

The guy has a great work ethic from what I gather. Only problem is that his youthful exuberance could lead to another setback in the long run.
And yes, where did McCleish get this thug Hutton from, probably the same Glasweigan ghetto where he first came into the world.
just goes to show how despreate we are getting,we havent got anybody else, why? because JP will not spend and this is the outcome.

Totally agree with 5 sadly with Shanes abscence
and Peter’s suprising lack of form our expectations
are unfulfilled so far just hope we dont rush Shane
back to soon. He’s a tough cookie but should be told to be sensible he’s not Braveheart leave
Scarner and Olssen to sort out the cloggers

How come we sold 2,600 tickets at villa and we struggling to sell 1,700 for QPR and they £8 cheaper, any of you lot going(daft question),i am.
Villa is a historic local derby about 20 mins drive away. QPR is a £40, 2 hour train/tube journey to go a be in the company of Neil Warnock.

12, Away Fan, who cares?

14 SB,
we know by now that post 12 is this ‘shirley TC clacka’ idiot, and I’ve already exposed him after seeing him posting on the wolves site as a wolves fan.
He’s completely obsessed, and craves attention,so whatever people say to him he won’t go away.
A very sad person who obviously needs professional help.

5. Change the record. This misconception that JP has spent no money is getting a bit tedious.
Shane, you are a miss and can’t wait until you are fit again but please take your time and make sure you are 100% fit.
Big game tomorrow, come on you Baggies!
if we only take 1,700 to QPR it’ll be a few hundred more than Wolves took to Villa
Cantello, please replace ”professional help” with ”damn good hiding”. it’s not often he turns up on the Wolves pages but practically every time he does he’s labelled an IDIOT and sent away with a flea in his ear

17 Sherlock,
the reason I say he needs ‘help’ is that what he does is not normal behaviour,if he’s been on here three times a day for the last six months that amounts to about 500 posts, and whatever people say or do he won’t listen to anyone.
It’s just an opinion, but rather than a wind-up merchant,I honestly feel he must have a mental unbalance or disabilty.
It can be a bit disturbing.
cantello, sorry mate, i’ve rarely disagreed with you (if ever) but this time i have to
i don’t think he’s unbalanced or disturbed or disabled. i just think he’s an irksome little brat who would benefit from regular physical punishment (someone should tell his mom)
anyway we’re giving him undeserved space again. enjoy the gig tonight. wish i was going meself but saving me pennies for tomorra’s pre-match lubrication

Sorry 5. Steve Poole, I meant 9. Peter.
Baggiessssss

Sherlock and Rocket.
I agree with you both. He obviously has severe mental issues and a few slaps would do him the world of good. I’m normally extremely non-violent but willing to make an exception here. Blame the parents for giving him a computer but not giving him any common sense.

19 Sherlock,
you may be right about this idiot, the problem is that people hide behind their laptop, and haven’t got the courage to say who,or what, they really are.
So you just have to try to picture what they’re like, and there’s something definitely wrong with this imbecile.
Anyway, thanks for what you said about the gig tonight-
WHEN I win the lottery,I’ll book us all a private gig with Clapton, and make sure he wears his Albion scarf on stage-
he can do an encore of ‘The lord’s My Shepherd’ as well………
Report abuse
Bully, Rocket, can I volunteer to five him that hiding? ;-)
Boing Boing!!

Away fan – the tickets are not on general sale yet to normal account holders so be patient, I’m waiting for the green light and will get them asap as I am sure all other fans will.

22.Cantello. Why not take ‘em to Old Church for free? The choir will sing ‘The Lord’s my Shepherd’ better too.
PS:That girl with the legs is here again. No wonder I can’t sleep! Do you think I’m being targeted ? It’s a bit like waiting for the ref’s whistle and Kick Off.

Cyril.
Not wanting to sound like a sad old man I’ve resisted asking about this girl until now but as I’m a sad old leg man where the hell is she?
PS As it’s approaching pantomime season ‘oh no they won’t.’

Sorry to come on here so late. But I here long and gera are up front tomorrow. That’s what I’ve been told and I believe its true. Hope people see it before tomorrow

26.TRBH. All I know is, when I do ‘Leave A Reply’ on here, on the Right Hand side is a beautiful girl flashing a superb pair of legs
sitting firstly near a fireplace and then later ON A BED! I KNOW that’s exciting but damned if I can remember why! It’s under ‘Mature Dating’. Nothing sad about being a man mate. Just shows you’re not dead yet. When I stop looking I shall be VERY cold.
27.I.M. Interesting and somewhat strange combination. I do so hope Long is really match fit. Any idea who’s on the bench as backup?
26 Bully,
what you have to remember is that not only was Cyril there when the Kama Sutra was first compiled, but he was also IN it.
I wonder if he can still put his foot around the back of his neck whilst keeping his partner happy………..?
