West Brom confirm interest in Nedum Onuoha and Tim Ream

West Brom will launch a new bid to sign Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha in January with Hawthorns officials set to pursue an initial loan deal.

They will try to loan the former England under-21 international with a view to a permanent deal next summer but they could face competition from Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn and Everton.

The Baggies failed in a bid to sign the 24-year-old on loan in August but he is set to leave the Etihad Stadium in January, after falling out of favour with boss Roberto Mancini.

And West Brom sporting director Ashworth confirmed another defender, New York Red Bulls centre-back Tim Ream, aged 24, could arrive on trial in the next few weeks.

Ashworth said: “I first saw Tim at the Emirates tournament in the summer and I quite liked him along with quite a few of the other Red Bulls players,” said Ashworth.
