Marc-Antoine Fortune scores twice for West Brom reserves against Chelsea
Wednesday 2nd November 2011, 9:10AM GMT.
Two goals from Marc-Antoine Fortune helped West Brom reserves cement their place at the top of the Premier Reserve League South with a comfortable Hawthorns victory.
A strong Baggies side put a young Chelsea outfit to the sword 4-0 with captain Craig Dawson opening the scoring, before Fortune struck either side of half-time and substitute Lateef Elford-Alliyu completed the scoring.
Centre-back Gabriel Tamas completed 90 minutes on his return from a thigh strain, while Nicky Shorey played the full 90 minutes at left-back, as did Roman Bednar in attack and Marton Fulop in goal.
Dawson broke the deadlock when he headed home a corner from Sam Mantom in the 12th minute.
Fortune doubled the hosts’ lead on 27 minutes when Bednar found Romaine Sawyers, who released the Frenchman to hold off Nathaniel Chalobah and find the bottom corner.
Bednar missed a decent chance when he glanced a header wide from Kemar Roofe’s cross, but Fortune made no mistake three minutes after the restart, pouncing on hesitation in the Chelsea defence.
Elford-Alliyu struck just five minutes after stepping off the bench, finishing at the second attempt.
