West Brom eased Roy Hodgson’s pain
Saturday 29th October 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Boss Roy Hodgson has revealed how transforming West Brom healed the wounds of his sacking from Liverpool.
Hodgson claims returning to work at The Hawthorns just five weeks after being shown the door at Anfield prevented him from brooding over his departure from Merseyside.
The 64-year-old, who leads Albion into battle against the Reds at The Hawthorns this evening (5.30pm), was given the boot just six months into his Liverpool contract but steered the Baggies to a best ever Premier League finish of 11th place.
“Every manager who has left a club or lost a job could look and say ‘what if’ or ‘if only’,” said Hodgson.
“But I have worked hard to make certain I don’t dwell on that side of things. Being able to come here and get involved with West Bromwich Albion, which is a good club and where I am enjoying working, has helped me in that respect.”
