Michael Appleton on mood in West Brom camp after Shane Long injury
Tuesday 25th October 2011, 12:30PM BST.
West Brom assistant boss Michael Appleton today insisted the mood in the camp is relief rather than anger that Shane Long has been ruled out for up to six weeks.
Long could miss as many as six Premier League games with a knee injury following the horror tackle by Aston Villa’s Alan Hutton in Saturday’s clash at Villa Park.
But Appleton, speaking at today’s half-term open training day at the Hawthorns, insisted it is time to move on.
He said: “I am sure Shane has his own private thoughts on the tackle, but we are just relieved it is only six weeks out and not six months.
“Now we can work with him and get him back playing as quickly as possible without ruling him out for the season.”
