Chris Brunt blasts Lawrie Sanchez

Albion captain Chris Brunt today blasted former Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez and urged him to stay out of current manager Nigel Worthington’s business.

The Baggies midfielder added his voice to criticism from Hawthorns and Northern Ireland colleague Gareth McAuley, who this week claimed Sanchez would not be forgiven for walking out on the national team.

In a recent interview, Sanchez suggested Worthington should step down after defeats to Serbia and Estonia and hinted he would like to return to the job.

But McAuley aimed fierce criticism at Sanchez, who left Northern Ireland to take over at Fulham and is now in charge at League Two club Barnet.

And Brunt said: “It was a fair comment from Gareth. You don’t see too many people jumping in when somebody has got a bad result trying to get them out of a job.

“Lawrie didn’t hang around for too long when the Fulham job came up for him. He was out like a shot. He should just get on with his own job, which is managing Barnet in League Two.”
