Nicky Shorey in warning to West Brom

West Brom defender Nicky Shorey today admitted the Baggies must improve quickly – and claimed they ignored warnings about Saturday’s defeat at Swansea.

The full-back, who admitted responsibility for the Swans’ final goal in a 3-0 win, believes Roy Hodgson’s men failed to act on a below-par display in the victory at Norwich.

And Shorey knows they must step up their performance levels at home to Fulham on Saturday – or face another bad day.

He said: “Sometimes you have bad games and Saturday was hopefully just one of those bad games that we can write off and go again.

“But it happened in the second-half against Norwich and we’ve got to look at that and try to improve. We know we can so it but we have to go out there and show it.

“We want to try to win every game but, if we put in performances like Saturday, we probably won’t. It was a game that you don’t want to go too over the top with because it was a bad day at the office.

“It was just individual mistakes, including me for the last one, but the way we played was a more disappointing factor. That’s what I would be more worried about.

“I could see it coming at the end of the Norwich game, because we didn’t play well enough in the second-half there.”
