Berahino on target for Albion reserves
Thursday 15th September 2011, 11:31AM BST.
Saido Berahino’s fourth goal in three reserve games helped Albion’s second-string extend their unbeaten start to the season to three matches.
Berahino opened the scoring on 25 minutes before Roman Bednar doubled the lead with a 67th-minute penalty following a handball in the box.
Bednar hit the post 10 minutes later before the hosts rattled the woodwork themselves.
Albion included a number of players with first-team experience in their line-up including Marton Fulop, Billy Jones, Joe Mattock, George Thorne, Bednar and Marc-Antoine Fortune.
Coach David Oldfield said: “The lads played well and showed a good attitude.
“We had some more senior players in the team and they were very good in terms of their work-rate.”
Albion: Fulop, Jones, Mattock, Thorne, Downing, O’Neil, Berahino, Mantom (Edge, 90), Bednar (Brown, 62), Fortune (Sawyers, 70), Roofe. Subs: D Daniels, L Daniels (gk).
