Graham Dorrans eyes first-team run
Tuesday 13th September 2011, 3:00PM BST.
Albion midfielder Graham Dorrans today set his sights on a lengthy first-team run after his winning return to action at Norwich.
The Scotland international made his first Premier League start since February in Sunday’s 1-0 victory at Carrow Road.
And the star of the club’s 2010 Championship promotion, who was sidelined by an ankle injury for the end of last season, hopes to build on his solid return at the weekend.
Dorrans said: “I haven’t had many minutes on the pitch this season but hopefully I’ve got myself back fit and I can stay in the team. I don’t think I’ve done myself any harm.
“I felt OK in the first-half. In the 15 or 20 minutes before I came off I got a little bit of cramp.
“But it was my first game back in the Premier League so, hopefully, I can keep improving and getting fitter and get 90 minutes in.
“I feel like I’m getting there now. I need to get myself that little but fitter and that little bit sharper and work on getting stronger.
“I had a bad injury and I’m still working on that to get it stronger. But I just need to keep myself going and get some game-time in.
“You only get match-fit by playing matches and that’s what I want to do. I hope I’ve done enough.
“I think I did OK but there is a lot of competition for places and everyone will be champing at the bit to get back in.
“But hopefully I’ve done enough to keep my place.”
