Albion defender Craig Dawson today insisted he is ready for a shot at the Premier League.

The Baggies youngster is back at the club ahead of Sunday's trip to Norwich, after an impressive first week with the England under-21 team.

And the 21-year-old, who signed for Albion a year ago from Rochdale but was loaned back to the League One side last season, believes he could now compete in the Premier League.

He said: "I have been training every day with the lads and feel I'm getting better. If I'm given a chance I'll be ready.

"The quality is obviously very high, you can see that just from watching the game. It's a challenge I would look forward to if given a chance."

Dawson, who made a habit of scoring from set-pieces for Rochdale, netted twice on his under-21 debut against Azerbaijan.

He said: "To score on my debut was an amazing feeling. It was a great night for me, especially to start the game like that.

"I didn't expect it to go as well as it did."
