Albion boss’ plan for Graham Dorrans
Thursday 25th August 2011, 3:20PM BST.
Albion boss Roy Hodgson today insisted Graham Dorrans has a major role to play in the club’s Premier League campaign.
Hodgson urged fans to be patient with the Scotland international, who played 90 minutes in the Carling Cup win at Bournemouth on Tuesday.
But the Hawthorns head coach is confident Dorrans will force his way into the league starting line-up, once he regains full fitness after last season’s ankle injury.
The Baggies boss said: “Graham is a good player who missed a lot of football last season and he’s almost like a new signing for us.
“He’s a player with so much football in him that he will get better and better and I’m sure we will see an awful lot of him in the first team in the coming weeks and months.
“He’s a quality player and we saw that on numerous occasions on Tuesday. He has missed a lot of football and training but we’re working hard to put that right.
“I thought his performance on Tuesday was good but, by his standards, it was only good because he is such a good player and he can do even better than that.
“But I’m certainly more than happy with him and the progress he’s making.
“He’s got some Scotland games coming up and I think we’ll see the best of him October or November, when he has more games and training time under his belt.”
