Jerome Thomas wants to face Stoke

Albion winger Jerome Thomas has declared he is ready for a Premier League return after making a goalscoring comeback from injury in the Carling Cup.

Thomas opened the scoring in last night’s 4-1 second round victory at Bournemouth, after missing the opening two league games with a hip injury.

And the 28-year-old declared himself ready to figure in Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Stoke at the Hawthorns.

He said: “I feel ready, especially with an extra day’s training this week with the game being on Sunday. I’m ready to get back involved with the squad and hopefully help us start to put some points on the table in the Premier League.

“I thought we were unlucky in both league games so far to come away without anything but that’s the nature of the Premier League, especially when you’re playing against the top teams.

“Hopefully setting up and scoring more goals is something I can take into the first team and into the Premier League, because that’s what wins games and gets points on the board.

“I was just happy to be back out there last night. It’s always frustrating being injured, but I have been supporting the lads as much as I can and it was good to get back out there.”

Albion reached the third round of the Carling Cup last night despite leaving out all 11 starters from the weekend’s match at Chelsea.

But Thomas believes a prolonged run in the competition would be perfect for the Baggies squad.

He said: “If we’re being realistic, in the grand scheme of things staying in the Premier League is the No 1 priority. It was last season and it’s the same this season.

“But it’s nice, especially with the squad we’ve got, to get more people game time and it’s good to get as far as we can.”
