Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
Kuszczak in, Carson out at Albion?
Friday 10th June 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Albion target Tomasz Kuszczak has confirmed he is likely to leave Manchester United this summer – as Scott Carson was linked with a surprise move to Turkey.
The Baggies have held talks with Kuszczak over a return to the Hawthorns, as they look to shake up their goalkeeping department with Carson’s days at the club potentially numbered.
And the Poland international has signalled a possible stepping up of the race for his signature by confirming for the first time he plans to leave Old Trafford after failing to secure first-team football.
He said: “My ambition is to play football. I tried to be patient, but sitting on the bench and playing so rarely, it is hard to prove anything.
“Can I stay? I would like to very much, but I want to play.”
The Baggies have held preliminary discussions with the Kuszczak camp and received positive feedback about the possibility of a return, with United thought unlikely to price him out of the market.
But Albion are likely to face competition for his signature from England and elsewhere in Europe.
The 29-year-old admitted his future was now in the hands of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has signalled his intention to look elsewhere for a successor to Edwin van der Sar, having agreed a deal to sign David de Gea from Atletico Madrid.
Kuszczak said: “If he decides that I do not deserve a chance then I will have to leave the club.
“He is the most successful coach and for me he will always be a great man, but I admit that his decisions have sometimes harmed me and I had to reconcile them.”
The Baggies are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper with their first choice, former Villa man Brad Friedel, having opted to join Tottenham on a free transfer instead.
But Bolton keeper Ali Al-Habsi is not believed to be high on Albion boss Roy Hodgson’s wanted list, despite reports of an interest.
Carson’s future appears uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract, with no discussions having begun about an extension.
Turkish club Bursaspor have added him to their list of potential transfer targets, along with Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Of course Thomasz wants to stay and play at Man United. Who wouldn’t, at such a top club, with medals galore? But he has wasted the last four – or is it five? – seasons of his career warming the bench and, for whatever reason, Sir Alex just does not fancy him being the permanent Number One. I suspect his original signing was on the strength of one game at Man U, a 1-1, in the year of the Great Escape, in which he made 15 saves. But other clubs will be in the running and Thomasz has never spoken warmly about his time with us, despite the support he used to have. I am not sure what sort of man we’d be getting back, either, judging from his last couple of jittery error-prone performances.

“My ambition is to play football. I tried to be patient, but sitting on the bench and playing so rarely, it is hard to prove anything.”
If only this was true? none off us on here are Premier League players, yet we could have told him when he left us he would be playing less football than if he had stayed, if we could see that, why couldn’t he?
I wonder if Sir Alex offered him a 50% pay increase he would feel the same?
No problem with people moving jobs to get a pay rise, that’s human nature, but I do have a problem with people who are hypocritical and latter try and justify it for a different reason.

Oh dear, from the Moxey could smash transfer record thread,
“And Moxey believes that only Blackpool and possibly neighbours Albion will have spent less on players salaries in the season just completed.”
Poor old Laughinwolf, for weeks now hes been informing us that having the 2nd lowest wage bill in the league what a miracle Wolves had worked, err, wrong again! Yet another spurious fact of his that he uses in a attempt to big up Wolves, then proves to be simply made up in his own little world to try and justify the sinking ship W.W.F.C. (wait till the true injury figures come out, expect another shocker, not!)
Ironically of the four teams mentioned with the lowest wage bills, Burnley, Blackpool (both relegated) Wolves (skin of their teeth with only minutes to spare and HAVING to rely on others) Can we see the odd one out readers? that’s right, we are the only ones who actually do it successfully.
Boing Boing.

Give Carson a chance is my opinion played well when he had his second chance. If the back four is to get stronger some of the pressure will be off Carson.Kuszczak been happy to play second fiddle to long at Man U goalkeeping is alot about confidence is Kuszczak really any better then Carson personally i think not

Why would specialist bits of scrap from the Northbank ie. 50, 60, 70+ meters of rolled steel and the accompanying bespoke bits, be brought by a mystery buyer to have them transported at great cost to a holding yard a stones throw away from the old C/C ?
They arnt any good to anyone, unless, and this is just off the top of my head, someone would want to build a cheap football stand extention in that area.
Cant think of anyone. CAN YOU ?
If my theory is correct, and you eventually build your small extention to your stand, when Wolves visit we will be able to face your new extention and sing “Northbank northbank give us a wave”

Thinking about how Villa are struggling to get a manager, i bet bet Roy wished he hadnt jumped in feet first with his first offer of a job.
If he had waited a few months he wouldnt now have the feeling of a teenage boy that has ended up dating the ugliest of a family of fine sisters.
A transfer budget of millions could of been his, insted he is emptying the penny jar and reversing the charges in phone calls to Fulham.

No.15
It is the football league and not FA that have voted to accept the UEFA fair play system. This should be of no surprise as pretty much all of them meet the system criteria anyway. Otherwise most would face insolvency. It would also allow them to compete more fairly with premier league clubs.

21) Facts speak for themselves my friend, four clubs mentioned, only one of which successful under low wage bill, dont shoot the messenger! You “achieved” narrowly avoiding relegation by being the third biggest spenders in transfer window, to finish where we did you will have to spend…..how much?
20) yes I know, but when them down the road are a football league club season after this…. :-)
anyway, to be adopted by P.L. and I quote-
“The new UEFA rules will also limit the amount of cash ‘sugar daddies’ will be able to pour into the clubs to fund transfers and high wages, though they will be allowed to finance capital projects such as stadiums and academies.
Attempts to bypass the rules by owners handing out huge sponsorship contracts to their clubs from other companies they own will also be checked by an independent watchdog panel appointed by UEFA to ensure they are not paying above the market rate.
The FA and Premier League – who will be the bodies that jointly provide the UEFA licences to English clubs – have given the new rules a cautious welcome but want assurances that smaller clubs still have “the opportunity to invest the resources required to compete at a higher level”.
Like I said, dont shoot the messenger!

One turned to his mate and said:

his mate said:
‘yeah, but we didn’t need workmen then, just a good gust of wind was enough!’.

last season, wolves LOST 1,500 season ticket holders, while the Baggies GAINED 1,500.
Can we expect ANOTHER 1,500 deserters turning up at the Hawthorns this time around?

I’ve finally sussed out Lone. His missus writes his posts out when the spelling is good, then when he types it out and gets excited, we get ‘could of’ instead of ‘could have’. I now believe SHE has the IQ of 100 and his is 30, so together they become very clever. We’ll think of ‘insted’ as just a typo as we are very forgiving towards the deluded. Now about that well run club about a stone’s throw away from Moulinex. I remember only too well having lumps of concrete from the South bank terraces being thrown at us visiting Baggies when the whole place was falling apart and due for dismantling by the Batty Brothers to turn into a mini-market. Couldn’t get any takers though so they flogged it and cut their losses. Where would you be now without Great Uncle Jack? (Before you turned on him and sent him Wolf Packing).

Just going back to the main story,I still feel it’s a sad situation.
I’ve said before that Scott Carson is a ‘keeper with some good qualities, and some weaknesses, which puts him in the same category as the vast majority of other goalkeepers I can think of.
What makes me smile is that Peter O. had a bad spell during mid-season,when he was missing sitters in front of goal, and was very low in confidence.
Despite this, when he started scoring again, everyone forgot the bad performances, and hailed him as a hero, having nothing but good to say about him.
On the other hand,Scott was criticised for making certain mistakes (on closer inspection,it was other players at fault for some of these accusations),yet when he had a good, solid game, hardly anyone would give him praise, the knockers just kept quiet until they could find further fault, and give him yet more stick.
I didn’t bother watching the recent England game, but people tell me that the country’s ‘best’ ‘keeper,Joe Hart, was involved in certain ‘defensive embarrassments’ that Carson would have been slaughtered for,and watching clips of Kuszczak playing at the end of the season saw him giving a performance on par with the best circus clown, constantly fumbling the ball, and running out of position.
For those that demand a new ‘keeper,if we sign one of YOUR recommended replacements, and he makes mistakes next season,I hope you give him the same treatment as you’re now giving Scotty.
After all,it’s only being fair,right?

30, Cyril, nice one. ( cant belive ive just typed that ) As our IQs are the same i feel comfortable corresponding with a fellow intelllectual such as yourself.
As for me bad spellins and gramma, At 14 and a bit i decided that school wernt for me and did one. Even though i was offered a grammer school position at 11 me mum couldnt afford all the bits n bobs that went with it, or the bus fares to Wallsal every day.
In a nutshell; at 17 i owned half a share in a scrap yard, and a market stall in Bilston and Brownhills. That year i also got me first car (cortina 2.0ltr E ) 5 grand i think, while me dad slogged his guts out for 6 grand a year at GKN. I could go on, many tales i could tell, but the point being, even then i couldnt give a toss about bad spellings and grammer, and it makes me smile that even now you Jack and others still feel it necessary to point them owt.
Lets move on to Mrs Lone, Lord above where do i start; She is shall we say, feisty, funny, lives life to the full and is a bit of a handful. At this moment in ayia napper with her mates. only been there 2 nights and already i belive a diplomatic incident has occurred. But blogging on Albion turf aint her bag. Think she spoke to Bully once or twice after he accused her of being inflatable.haha.
The second Love of me life is as you know WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS. The Batty era and our decline that you and others still try to use as a stick to beat us with, was some of the best times of true wolves fans lives ( dont ever remember lobbing concrete at you though )
Great uncle Jack was, and still is, a Wolves leg. Part or the rich tapestry that is WWFC. The greatest football team the world has ever seen. It has it all, history, rise and fall and rise again, glamour, romance, fortitude, passion and a great coloured strip. Im sure you will agree.
Just do us a favour cyril, use your high IQ to better and more worthy retorts to old Lone rather than pickin on his bad spellings and grammer. You should be able to do a lot better. And also make it more interesting for me.

47TRBH. Well said gaffer. I hate the idea of being personal and rude, but sometimes rise to the bait and use whatever weapon comes to hand. One last comment to Lone. I too passed for Grammar School at 11, West Brom being a forward thinking Council in 1942. My dad was a foundry moulder in cast iron, 4 kids and a council house. We never lacked for affection, but money was in short supply with clothes rationed too. It wasn’t easy there as the majority were far better off and Dad died before I finished. So yes, I know all about hardship. Oh, and we had to BUY our text books in 1942 as any ex WBGS pupil still alive will tell you. My Granddad went back to work at 75 to help out. There was no giving up with that sort of backing. Teachers were often past retiring age because the others had gone to war. A great school though.

We’ve drifted away from football, so back with a bang! McLeish walks out on Blues has to be the headline. I could use the word ‘fluid’ to describe modern footer, but ‘volatile’ seems more appropriate. Chelsea sack a manager who did the double one year followed by 2nd this year, Blues keep a bloke who won a Cup and got relegated. Said manager in Villa’s sights as a replacement for poor old Gerard, turns them down, presumably not big enough to match his ego. You couldn’t make it up. Well, you could, but no one would publish it.

52 Cyril-
There may be at least two sides to a story, but McLeish’s reputation must be dropping faster than Blues descent to the Championship.
By all accounts,he was given 40 million to spend on the squad, and the Chairman has recently signed three new players from the Manager’s ‘wish list’.
With the club standing by him,and two years remaining on his contract,he walks out after informing the club by e-mail that he doesn’t want to hang around any longer.
It’s been rumoured that he might take the Villa job,and they in turn have been attempting to poach serving Manager’s from other Premiership clubs recently.
McLeish should go to Villa-it’s obvious that they deserve each other.
