Michael Appleton eager to stamp authority on West Brom
Thursday 19th May 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Michael Appleton is relishing pre-season with Albion – after using ‘microwave training’ to help save the Baggies from Premier League relegation.
Roy Hodgson’s right-hand man believes the duo can finally stamp their mark on the Albion side after resorting to short-term measures to turn around this season.
Hodgson stepped in for Roberto Di Matteo in February with the Baggies sliding towards the Premier League drop zone but guided them to safety with three games to spare.
And Appleton admitted that led to a different type of coaching.
“All the stuff we’ve done over the past three months has been done in a kind of ‘microwave’ way,” he said.
“The gaffer wants us to play a certain style and he’s brought his own philosophy to the table.
“It’s very easy to pick up as a player and I think you’ve seen that in the games so far.
“As a coach and one of his assistants, it’s been very easy for me to pick up.
“I understand what he wants and how he wants players to play, and tactically what we do each game.
“I look forward to doing that over a period of time, which is what we get to do over pre-season.
“That’s the best thing about pre-season and I’m sure the gaffer’s looking forward to it.”

Appy has become a real ‘Albion Man’ in the same way that Bomber and the King did. None of them are from this area but all enjoyed a real affinity with the club. I really hope he stays.

Obviously, ALBION are a upwardly-mobile club, and have the nucleus of a Premiership squad. Brilliant youngsters coming to fruition. Governed by a top class Head-Coach.Roll on next season.

Anyone want a laugh, here’s another offering from our good friend LW:
“The real Lincoln Wolf is a Baggie. I haven’t been happy with some of Micks decisions etc this season but we have 40 points with one remaining game at home. Last season we finished with 36 points in a poorer division. We are on the verge of doing something our club or Sandwell have never previously accomplished, a 3rd successive season of Premier League football.
A few signings are needed pre-season, a left back (Neil Warnock)a centre back (Richard Dunne, Roger Johnson, Craig Cathcart) and a 4th striker (Demba Ba) and the deadwood cleared out – Keogh, Vokes, Halford etc”
Bless his cotton socks!

Change tack.
Osaze ALBION’s inform goal getter, has been dropped by Nigeria coach Samson Siasia, for missing a friendly match, without permission.
Now all Siasia has got to worry about is, if Osaze calls time on his international career, whithout permission.

8 Sir Terry.
The O’Hara one probably was their best goal (with a bit of help from our defence not marking)and it still wouldn’t have squeezed into our top ten.
Before last weeks game I watched our top ten on the big screen and I’d be really hard pushed to choose. Mozza had his own personal goal of the season competition. Which one would everyone else vote for?
