Albion winger Jerome Thomas is eyeing talks in the summer to extend his Hawthorns contract.

The former Arsenal trainee has a season remaining on his current deal with a further year's option in the Baggies' favour.

But the 28-year-old is keen to open discussions in the close season about extending his stay with Roy Hodgson's side.

"There will be talks this summer," said Thomas, who joined the Baggies as a free agent two summers ago after an injury-plagued spell at Portsmouth.

"As long as we can come to an agreement I'm happy to stay. Who wouldn't want to be part of what Roy's trying to build here?

"I think that has shown in the last few games. Roy is a head coach that likes to stick with the player that he has.

"He likes to show faith in them. If it looks like I'm going to be one of the players in the XI I'm happy to stay and push on, as long as the club can match my ambitions and bring in the right players to start moving forwards."

Thomas arrived at The Hawthorns desperate for regular first-team action after his career hit the buffers at Fratton Park because of a stress fracture to his back.

He has been a regular member of the side under both Roberto Di Matteo and new boss Hodgson. And he is now keen to put down roots in the West Midlands.

"I've got a year left already and I'm happy here, I'm playing games," said Thomas.
