Albion’s Meite sets European target
Wednesday 27th April 2011, 1:00PM BST.
Abdoulaye Meite has set his sights on staying with Albion next season and claimed boss Roy Hodgson could lead the Baggies into Europe.
The Hawthorns defender hopes to convince Hodgson to take up the club’s option to extend his contract for another season.
And Meite, who has been restored to the team under Hodgson, believes the new head coach could repeat his achievements at Fulham and take his new club into European competition.
He said: “My priority is thinking about playing football and doing what we need to stay up. I think we need to get two or three points more and, after that, we can start to talk.
“Now is not the time to start but, of course, I would like to stay. I am happy here. I want to stay because we have a new manager and he can do a good job here.
“He did it at Fulham and I’m sure he can do it at West Brom. European places are available and I think he can do it here.”
