Mulumbu: We’re not scared of Spurs stars
Friday 22nd April 2011, 11:29AM BST.
Youssouf Mulumbu today insisted Albion will show no fear when they take on Tottenham’s star-studded midfield at White Hart Lane tomorrow.
The Baggies ace claims he and midfield partner Paul Scharner will relish the challenge of snuffing out PFA player of the year Gareth Bale, fellow nominee Rafael van der Vaart and playmaker Luka Modric.
“They are a good team with good players like Aaron Lennon and Luka Modric so we have to be careful,” said Mulumbu, who yesterday picked up the club’s first end-of-season award when he was named player of the year by the West Bromwich Albion Disabled Supporters Club.
“I spoke with Paul Scharner and we will be ready for that fight and we don’t have to be scared because we also have good players.
“We need to be compact and stick to our game-plan, and if we do that we can get a draw or even win this game. It’s very important to us because we still need three points so we won’t give our chance away.
“We lost the game against Chelsea but now we have to clean it from our minds and go forward to win the three points we need to stay in the Premier League.”
The Baggies will head to north London with Gabriel Tamas and Marek Cech major doubts through injury. The defenders, who were both in line for places on the substitutes’ bench, could join Graham Dorrans on the sidelines with the Scotland international still out with an ankle problem.
But winger Jerome Thomas has urged the Baggies to prey on Tottenham’s potential fatigue after Harry Redknapp’s men were involved in a high-octane 3-3 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday.
“We’ve had good week’s training and Tottenham played on Wednesday in what was a hard game for them,” said Thomas.
“That would have taken a lot out of them and we need to use that to our advantage. They are really strong at White Hart Lane and we can all see the quality they’ve got.
“They’ve got the PFA player of the year, although we’re not sure he’ll be playing after he got injured.
“But they’ve got some great, dangerous players in their side and it’s our job to stop them scoring like they did on Wednesday. That’s their strength but it’s our strength as well — going forwards and scoring goals.”

Youssouf,
We also have stars, I’ve said their energy level should be lower, after a gruelling derby midweek. They will rely on ball retention to preserve energy. Get in their face (Keep it tight) and run them ragged. All the best.

P.S. Isn’t it nice, pretending to be a coach.

Go over to the dark side, Henry is trying all he knows, to butter up Fulham. The more he opens his mouth the more he puts his foot in it.
Watch out for Laughingwolf and Odd Fellow coming on here to try the same, before we go to the Custard-Bowl.

A draw would be an excellent result, a win would just be the cherry on the cake, just need to keep Bale under control who is a different class, his injury aside, the rest I believe we can match, Gomez of late has let some howlers in, and given the chances I fully expect Odem to exploit this and bag a couple, if not a hat trick! as for the dark side, I’m beginning to fear for Micks sanity!

They should be tired after their high energy
match but they are fighting for euro place but
we need the points also. If our lads compete
and have self belief then we could suprise they havent lost at home since August so the
task is difficult. They looked different class
1st half because we stood off them at home but
2nd half we should have won. Hope Vela gets a start he’ll want to impress the Londeners.
Happy with a draw,absolute bliss for 3pts.
Must watch goal difference.

Happy,
Love to see the state of their training pitches, with all that stuff lying around. Mick thinks he scares people, whilst he achieves the opposite. That lot would be better thought of keeping stum and learning how to play football. look where their format has got them. Their players no need to worry, Mick’s happy, but not so happy as you.
He’d be liked more if he was suave, like ROY.
