Roy Hodgson alert to Torres danger
Friday 15th April 2011, 11:22AM BST.
Albion boss Roy Hodgson fears a Fernando Torres goal when he goes up against his misfiring former Liverpool striker with the Baggies.
The £50million Spain international has failed to fire since his big-money January switch to Chelsea with his lacklustre form a major talking point among fans.
But Hodgson, who managed Torres at Anfield in the first half of the season, still believes the 27-year-old will prove a good signing for the defending Premier League champions, who visit the Hawthorns tomorrow with Albion defending a seven-match unbeaten run.
Hodgson said: “Fernando didn’t have a good time at Liverpool from the start of the season.
“He has moved to Chelsea and everybody was hoping it was going to be ‘night and day’ and it’s not. He’s working hard, like he did for Liverpool, and it’s not working for him.
“But it will because he is a very good player and he is a good person as well. They will get a lot of value from Fernando Torres and I think even between now and the end of the season you will see him scoring goals and doing a great job for his team.
“I would rather have seen him score a few goals before tomorrow, because it’s pretty much sod’s law that his goal will come against me. But I won’t begrudge him that as long as we’ve got one more.
“He can have his goal as long as we’ve got two.”
The Blues’ exit from the Champions League in midweek has left them struggling to land any silverware this season after last season’s double.
But Hodgson believes they will arrive at the Hawthorns still intent on pushing leaders Manchester United all the way.
He said: “They are capable of winning six on the trot and Manchester United are capable of losing two or three because they’ve got one or two tough fixtures.
“Chelsea will only give up the hunt when it’s an impossibility, just like we won’t relax for one moment.”

I think all Baggies fans will be thinking thoughts similar to RH’s! But the team looks so much different now than just a few months ago! Make no mistake I feel Chelsea will have known they have been in a match come 17.00 on Sturday night…..my prediction at least a point!
