Albion await Graham Dorrans verdict

Albion are still in the dark as to when key midfield talent Graham Dorrans will be fit to rejoin their Premier League survival quest.

The results of this week’s scan on the gifted Scottish international’s ankle injury are now on head coach Roy Hodgson’s desk and, thankfully for club and player, show no serious problems.

But Hodgson admits the Baggies are still left wondering – and not knowing – when they can once again count on a player whose first full Premier League campaign has not been without its problems as well as its promise.

He said: “Graham has had his scan and is continuing to make progress. The medical staff are pleased with him but we’re not going to rush him back.

“At this stage, there’s no prognosis as to when he’ll be back. We’ll only consider him when he’s fully recovered.”

Dorrans turned his ankle in the training session before the Birmingham game at the start of the month, depriving Hodgson of a player who had produced one of his stand-out displays of the campaign in the draw at Stoke a few days earlier.

His injury was not alone in occupying Albion’s medical staff yesterday, after reports from Tranmere that their on-loan  striker Lateef Elford-Alliyu would miss the rest of the season because of a knee problem.

The 18-year-old striker has banged in five goals in 16 games during a valuable experience-gathering spell at League One Tranmere, but manager Les Parry declared the striker’s season finished by the knee problem.

Parry said: “Lateef has had another scan and they found that he’s got a bit of irritation and needs resting.

“He won’t play for us again this season, which is a massive loss.”

But Albion responded quickly to suggest that Parry’s verdict was premature and the striker, on stand-by for England under 19s duty, would be seeing a specialist for a full prognosis.

Congrats to Scott Carson on his England call up – I now look forward to all the E&S features on this over the next few days (and not just the brief story he got that had to mention his “calamatous” error against Croatia).

It seems that wolves player getting into the england squad is a much bigger deal than scotty getting in. How odd we can not comment on that but we get war and peace over Matt javis call up. typical of this paper

    Happy/Baggie (that’s posters 1 and 3, not a typo on 1!!)

It was also noticeable that Wolves’ 1-0 home win against Chelsea was greeted with a large black headline and about a dozen articles. We didn’t earn quite the same tribute after our 3-2 away win at the Emirates.

I’ve not been on much over the last few days as I’ve been bogged down at work, but the sparring with you and CR78 and the Wulfs on the other thread was a great read and the table tennis posts have kept me laughing during a week of stress!!

Great news Scott, England have now realised that goal wasn’t your fault. Don’t play on the wing in training or Jarvis will never get a game.

I’m glad as an Albion fan that he is in the squad but as an England fan who watches SC most weeks it shows what a grey area the Goalkeeping situation is for England with Green, Foster and even Hart not great keepers.

    6. What are you talking about not his mistake? It’s been and gone but my word he has made two clangers for England in two games I prefer Myhill everyday of the week.

    Gee

How about his errors against fulham?. He’s a shocking keeper. Fact! You were the same fans that were calling for him to be dropped 10 weeks ago. He doesn’t deserve to be in the England squad as his performances don’t merit it. He is a third choice goalkeeper because apart from hart and foster there is nobody else, I would pick rob green over Carson any day.

Carson showed he is a much better keeper than Hennessy in our West Midland Derby. What a clanger the wolves keeper made.

    Gee and 1973,

I think the Wulfies should leave Scott alone. At the end of the day we’ve all seen Scott and Jarvis play. Scott has had a lot of stick over the last two years or so for a costly error in an England shirt.

Lets not forget that was his (competative)debut, in a crunch game, in a must win situation, in front of 90,000 vicious Cockneys at Wembley and joining an already poor, toothless England side. Mclaren panicked and Carson’s international career ruined. He’s been slowly making progress at the Baggies and I know he will get more England caps than Matt Jarvis.

Don’t get me wrong, Jarvis is a good player but England quality? If Jarvis is playing for england then that just acts as a yard stick to measure how rubbish England really are.

Fair enough Carson is not England quality at the moment, but he was and he is 4th choice which has to be said is a pretty fair reflection of his talent and the lack of overall English talent in that area. He has time to improve as do the Baggies. Jarvis could also become a regular one day but I fancy Scott’s chances more than Matt’s.

1973) wind it in ….you clown . Why on earth would you berate somebody who put on the albion shirt and the england shirt. Everybody makes mistakes in life its how you react to them that makes the man. Beckham got sent off and may have well cost us our place in the 1998 world cup finals but he reacted in the correct manor and went on to be one of Englands finest examples. You thick dingles do my head in … so jog on

    11. Congratulations on the most ridiculous post ever written.

Scott Carson dominates the Christmas blooper dvd’s for Charlton, Liverpool, Villa, us and England, he is not as good a goalkeeper as Myhill. You also go onto say about Jarvis who according to the stats has put in more crosses than anyone in the Premiership this season and has been the best winger in the Premiership all season and one of the top one’s last season? Just because he is Wolves doesn’t make him bad. Carson will NEVER play a competitive game for England again.

    9. Shows you don’t go to games. Myhill was in goal V Wolves.

None of the keepers tried are without errors
personally i like a keeper who is vocal Scott
certainly isnt. The modern ball dosent help
their cause I much prefer Myhill who does shout as for Jarvis seems to me he’s only just
cutting his teeth. I do like Wilshere who should play for many years in the England side reminds me of Bryan Robson.

Put a good defence in front of Carson and he becomes a top class goalie. We have an excellent, experienced back four now. The difference to the goalie is obvious to all except ’1973′ because of looking through gold sun lenses.
I happen to think Jarvis will be a huge success in the England team. He’s an excellent player and fully deserves his chance. It’s called ‘Not Letting Spite Spoil Your Judgement’, a book I recommend to silly people who dress up in ‘Spyware’.
I had a visit from Sir Terence today and was sad to learn he doesn’t bother posting any more because they don’t get included on here.

I’m just stating facts not complaining, Carson was a country mile better than Hennessy.the wolves keeper had more luck than Joan the Wad.
So before you say wolves don’t have any luck , I’ve just proved it.

To the Banker who hasn’t go the guts to put he name to the disrespectful article on Scott Carson England call up.

For your information the calamitous error was accepted by John Terry if you new anything about football, which obviously you don’t being a Dingle, you would know that as a defender running towards your own goal you don’t try to head the ball when it’s 2ft of the ground and when you are struggling to get the ball under control to pass it back to your keeper,a rookie one at that, who’s wandering what you are going to do and you being the senior player to boot, you put the frigin’ thing in the stands.

I hope that every time there is an article on Zubar, one of your own, you don’t to forget to mention his hilarious Pantomime pass.

I think a printed apology to Scott would be in order.

I don’t suppose you or your bosses will have the guts or decency to print this as a right of reply for Scott.

Being an Albion fan,I know that I say some very critical things about us,but I do it for a good reason.I know that a lot of wolves fans read these posts, and they get very jealous and depressed to see us talking about our squad, because we all know that the Baggies have better quality players.
So if i play down how good we are,it makes them feel better. They’ve even got excited about Jarvis being in the England squad, but we know he’s only there to make the squad up,he’s a decent player, but he only looks good because of the lower standard of players he’s got around him at wolves.
So now you understand why I say these things.

    18 TRBH-

In fairness,I can understand why there’s so much media excitement about Jarvis.

For years, the press have waited for the opportunity to print one of two possible earth shattering sporting sensations-

either a British tennis player winning Wimbledon,or a wolves player being included in the England squad.

I guess they have to make the most of the least interesting story.

you must mean that Wayne Hennessey, isn’t he the ‘keeper who plays for his country, but has been seen making howlers by millions on telly, like dropping the ball from weak shots?

Surely,he should NEVER play a competitive game for Wales again?
