Albion refute James Morrison reports
Wednesday 23rd March 2011, 12:00PM GMT.
Albion have rubbished reports from Scotland that they tried to block James Morrison playing for his county in this weekend’s friendly against Brazil.
The midfielder suffered a head injury during the Baggies’ 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the weekend which required stitches.
Morrison had said: “The doctor tried to stop me going but I said nothing is going to stop me having the chance to play against Brazil.”
But Albion quickly fired out a statement to head off any suggestions north of the border that they were trying to block Morrison’s big day.
A club statement pointed out: “Some of the articles we’ve seen suggest James has defied club orders but that could not be further from the truth.
“James was scheduled to fly up to Scotland on Saturday night but due to the fact he was suffering from concussion, we thought it would be wise to delay his flight.
“We have developed an excellent relationship with Scotland’s medical department.”
