Steven Reid happy the Hodgson way

Steven Reid has led the salute to the man who has removed the doubts about Albion’s ability to survive the Premier League dogfight – boss Roy Hodgson.

The 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Saturday took Hodgson’s unbeaten start to four games and continued the Baggies’ climb out of the slump which cost predecessor Roberto Di Matteo his job.

Albion now take stock during the international break before April’s tough challenges will rush at them, but Reid’s assessment of Hodgson’s impact will hearten supporters as they brace themselves for the nerve-jangling run-in.

The right-back said: “Roy has got big experience and we all know he has managed top clubs – Inter Milan and Liverpool to name a couple.

“He has great respect from the lads and we’re working day in, day out on shape and pattern – there are no grey areas when we step over the white line now.

“Everyone knows their jobs and their positions, wherever the ball is on the park, and that has shown in the last few weeks.”

It’s this famed ability in organising teams which gives the Baggies fresh heart and left Hodgson relishing his return to the Premier League after his bitter experience at Liverpool.

Reid said: “If he lost the enjoyment I don’t think he would have taken the job. I don’t think he would have joined the club if he didn’t think we could stay up.

“You can see why he has been so successful over his career and, in the last few weeks, we have looked more solid than we did towards the start of the season.

“If we keep working day in, day out at what he has been teaching us, I’ve got every faith we will be fine.”
