James Morrison to play through pain
Tuesday 22nd March 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
Albion midfielder James Morrison will ignore doctors’ orders to play for Scotland against Brazil in Sunday’s international friendly.
The 24-year-old was told to withdraw from the Scotland squad by the Baggies’ club medics after sustaining a three-inch gash to his head, which required stitches, against Arsenal on Saturday.
But Morrison has refused to forfeit his dream of taking on the Samba stars and has made himself available to play at the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium in London this weekend.
He said: “The doctor tried to stop me going but I told him nothing is going to stop me having the chance to play against Brazil.
“I’m really looking forward to this game. You don’t often get the chance to play Brazil and test yourself.
“It’s the kind of match you dreamed about playing as a kid.”
Morrison had a taste of taking on the world’s elite when Scotland faced world champions Spain in Euro 2012 qualifying at Hampden Park back in October.
He added: “Taking on Spain was a great one which will stay with me forever and I’m sure this will be the same.”
