Derby delay joy for Jonas Olsson
Saturday 19th February 2011, 11:29AM GMT.
Jonas Olsson is itching to take on Wolves after fearing he would miss out on the Black Country derby.
The 27-year-old was today gearing up for his first-ever meeting with the Molineux club after the match was postponed in December due to heavy snowfall.
And the Sweden international was delighted by the deluge of winter weather – as he was due to miss the showdown with the Achilles problem that kept him out for three months.
“I have heard so much about the rivalry and the best day of my rehab was when the Wolves game was cancelled because now I can play,” said Olsson.
“I was happy when the snow fell because these are the games you want to play in. They are the games you remember after your career is over and I am really looking forward to it.
“I played in a lot of derby games in Holland for NEC Nijmegen against our biggest rivals, who were Vitesse Arnhem, and they were great games. You could feel the tension from all the staff at the club and you could tell a big game was coming.
“Here you see it in the newspapers and in the dressing room.
“And when you meet supporters they always say Wolves is the biggest game.”
