Albion set to win Carlos Vela race
Friday 28th January 2011, 3:30PM GMT.
Albion are set to beat Bolton and Spanish club Valencia to the signing of Arsenal striker Carlos Vela.
The Baggies are keen to add firepower to the remainder of their campaign for Premier League survival.
And the Mexican media claimed this afternoon that Vela’s agent, Eduardo Hernandez, had confirmed his client would move to the Hawthorns for the rest of the season.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle has publicly expressed his wish to sign the Mexico international, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is apparently convinced the player will spend more time on the pitch if he moves to the Hawthorns.
Valencia were also keen on Vela, who favoured a move to Spain, but Wenger is keen to secure Premier League experience for the player, who can operate as a central striker or a winger.
