Boaz Myhill reflects on Albion break

Albion goalkeeper Boaz Myhill today insisted getting his first-team break has not changed his approach to life at the Hawthorns.

The former Villa trainee has replaced the out-of-form Scott Carson for the Baggies’ last three matches, including his first two Premier League appearances since his summer move from Hull.

But Myhill is adamant his approach will not change as he looks to keep his place in the team.

He said: “You just have to keep doing what you’ve been doing.

“I can’t change myself as a player, all I can do is what I have been doing ever since I’ve been here, do my work from Monday to Friday and I have just been given a platform now to show what I can do on a Saturday.

“It doesn’t really change anything because I would hate to think people would say I’m trying harder now I’m in the team than I was before. That would be a bad reflection on me.

“I think I am always a reasonable trainer.”

Myhill was forced to wait behind club captain Carson for a chance in the Albion team after playing regularly for the Tigers.

But the Wales international insisted he has enjoyed his early months at the Hawthorns.

The 28-year-old said: “Ultimately everybody’s goal is to get into the starting line-up at the beginning of the season.

“You want to play in every game but some people do it and some don’t, so it’s up to you as a player to make the most of the opportunities you are given.

“The fact that currently I’ve been given a chance, doesn’t make it any more enjoyable, it’s just that little bit of extra icing on the cake.”

Well done Boaz it cant be easy coming in when things are not going well but you have given the fans a bit more confidence and I’m sure the players. Your team mate Carson was having a bad patch. Please keep it up as its now backs to the wall stuff and the one thing a team needs is confidence in its keeper.

    Boaz,
I think it’s natural progression to try harder when promoted, also there’s a matter of nailing your international place. You agree with me by saying ” make the most of the opportunities You are Given “.
    Get in there man.

Nicely worded No.1SC. Everyone has ups and downs in life, Carson will be back up to his best in a little while. We need and must have, TWO top class goalkeepers.

Really pleased Myhill is in the side he comes with no baggage now RDM has finally realised
he should have acted sooner perhaps he will also realise Morrison has had long enough and
start without him whats his function? we need
someone who will support Peter with a few goals. JT is playing well but why isnt he played on the right and Brunt opposite even
the great Tony Brown dosent understand why.
I feel all our recruits are worth their places
fans must realise so many enforced changes to
our defence didnt help with a sttled defence we should cope look at Blues their two centre
backs played 18 mnths before a change had to be made as been said no easy games in this league. Another 5 wins will see us safe.

Boaz has been a model pro – waiting his time and getting on with it without moaning when it has been clear to most phones that his chance is well overdue. Go on and make your own son.
Credit to RDM for taling Carson out of the firing line. One more howler against Blackpool and the fans would have been on his back and crucified him and he may have never recovered.
RDM does persist with players and i cant see the logic or reasoning – Morrison, Jara at full back etc
And Giles Barnes – have you ever watched him off the ball – he’s not interested and lazy.

Dont go changing as a player, youre doing alright m8, its the rest of em, need to pull there weight, i ve read jarrods blog, it was rather long winded, to just sate the obvious, and all hell breaks loose, everyone slags of everybody, youve said this, youve been disrespectful, then im sorry i didnt understand you etc etc etc, at the end of the day we got to suck it and see, SO COME ON ALBION

7 Sid- the old saying ‘united we stand, divided we fall’ comes to mind. When a team starts arguing amongst themselves,it’s a sign of weakness, and things usually fall apart,so the same rule applies to the fans.No one’s saying things are perfect, but we have the same squad and management that were doing brilliantly a couple of months back,so we should focus on getting behind the club, and doing all we can to get the very best outcome we can this season.
