Somen Tchoyi tipped to get better

Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo today claimed winger Somen Tchoyi can still get better if he learns to be a ’90 minute man.’
The Cameroon international was due to start for the Baggies against Blackburn this afternoon after a series of encouraging displays.
But Di Matteo believes there is more to come from the former Red Bull Salzburg man once he adds consistency to his arsenal.
“He is always a threat, he is physically strong and he puts some great balls in,” said the Hawthorns head coach.
“He still hasn’t got the ability to sustain it for 90 minutes and he fades away at times but he is a danger and he is getting better.
“We have high hopes and expectations of him so let’s hope he can produce.
“He has scored some important goals for us and he is always dangerous.
“He either scores or he puts a good assist in but we need to score.”
Having seen Tchoyi and his other summer signings make a positive impact on Albion’s Premier League campaign, Di Matteo remains keen to add a new striker to his squad in the January transfer window.
But he insisted he is happy to work with his existing squad for the remainder of the season if he fails to land a new recruit.
Reports claiming Villa striker John Carew was ‘on the brink’ of a move to The Hawthorns are wide of the mark.
The Norway international’s name has been discussed at Albion but Baggies officials have discussed a host of potential signings and are not close to any transfer announcements.
Di Matteo said: “We won’t have much room to strengthen but we will try.
“If we can we will, otherwise we will stay with what we have and do our best with the players that we have.
“If everybody can stay fit we will have a chance to be competitive.”
