Graham Dorrans ready to fire for West Brom
Tuesday 21st December 2010, 11:29AM GMT.
Graham Dorrans today claimed he is edging closer to top form after winning back his place in the Baggies midfield.
The Scotland international has started the last two matches after a tough start to his first full Premier League campaign.
And the 23-year-old believes playing for 90 minutes against both Newcastle and Villa have helped him regain confidence and fitness.
“Hopefully I can kick on now,” he said. “I need to get a couple of goals and, if I can do that soon, it will be great.
“The Villa game was only the second 90 minutes I’ve completed in the league so far so hopefully I can get my fitness and sharpness back and keep going and get stronger. “I feel like that is happening and it comes with playing games. Hopefully I can push on and get back to the way I was.”
Albion look set to target a new striker in the January transfer window, although reports linking them with Celtic striker Georgios Samaras are wide of the mark.
But Dorrans believes the return to fitness of Ishmael Miller will also give boss Roberto Di Matteo an exciting new option.
“He is a fantastic player,” said Dorrans. “He is only 23 but such a strong player.
“If we can get him fit I am sure he will be a massive asset to the club.”

Dorrens is the answer hopefully for the 2nd half of the season along with St Pete, Brunt, Thomas and hopefully Cox given half a chance. Cox is our most natural finisher so I think it would be good to give him a game.

1 AIK.
I agree about Simon Cox and I’m a big fan. The thing is that we shouldn’t expect too much too soon from him. Last season was a step up for him and he’s effectively now jumped two divisions.
I think we need another striker to take some weight off PO and allow Cox and Miller to develop at their own speed.
I know Ishmael isn’t everybody’s cup of tea but I still think he has immense natural potential if he works hard. I think GD is right and we could have a fantastic young player on our hands.

Anybody else had a go at the Quiz? I got one wrong but as I can remember some games from the 60′s in more detail than the Newcastle game I’m quite proud of my effort.

We have to persevere with our youngsters, after all that’s what they are. stick with them as they all show good capabilities and when they blossom, they will save the club millions.

Good to see Graham Dorrans giving Ishmael a shout. We sometimes forget the terrible luck he has had with injuries and the way he has got over them. There must have been times when he was close to despair. We all hope you are right and the real Ishmael will re-appear.

10/10 for me but I agree, I can memorise many matches from the sixties and seventies more so than recent games.
Quick Question – Which Albion player scored the fastest league goal on the opening day fixture of a league season on three occassions in the seventies ?
Clue – Twice for us and once for another club.

4 TRBH- I did the quiz, and was surprised I got 10/10,but I have already admitted to looking over Jordao’s shoulder at his laptop. It reminds me of the old joke, when young Johnny was accused of cheating by looking at Jimmy’s answers. He denied it,but the Teacher said ‘for question nine,Jimmy put ‘I don’t know the answer’,and for the same question you put ‘neither do I’.Gotta get me a new joke book for christmas.

Agreed on Miller too, I like the guy and think I mentioned about him in a previous thread that hopefully he can get to stretch his legs in the gym over this quiet period. Obviously Boxing day onwards it’s a hectic time so I’m sure he will be out on the pitch.
So young still too!
