Albion ‘unbeatable’ for Simon Cox
Wednesday 27th October 2010, 10:56AM BST.
Simon Cox has claimed Albion feel “unbeatable” as he pleaded for the Carling Cup heroes to get the chance to take the Baggies to Wembley.
Despite changing all 11 players, Albion extended their undefeated run to eight games last night as they beat Leicester 4-1 to book a place in the Carling Cup quarter-finals.
And Cox, who scored twice at the Walkers Stadium, hopes the fringe players who have carried the club to the last eight will keep their places for as long as they stay in the competition.
He said: “There is an aura at the club right now. We feel like we’re unbeatable at the moment and that’s a great feeling.
“If we were getting beaten every week and we had no points there would be a few more questions about the cup games and whether we should play the lads who are playing on a Saturday to give them confidence.
“But the manager has stuck by the lads who have got him this far in the competition and it’s paid off for him.
“I hope he keeps doing it because I am one of those players. I’m hoping he sticks by us for as far as we can take the club.
“If we go out in the next round then so be it, but if we get all the way to the semi-finals and the final then I expect to play at Wembley.
“If we get a bit of luck in the draw, we have a chance. If the big hitters, who are left in the draw, face each other and we can get a nice tie, maybe a home draw, why not?
“We will give it as good a go as anyone.”
Cox is yet to start a Premier League match this term but the former Swindon man, who has three goals in as many Carling Cup starts, admitted he has no cause for complaint.
He said: “I can’t argue. The lads are flying at the moment and I can’t argue. I have to wait my turn and this season is about patience for me.
“The lads who are playing at the moment are doing really well and we’re scoring goals and not getting beaten, which is a good habit to be in, so I just can’t complain.”

Don’t get too excited Simon. According to Laughing Wolf on the dark side we will go the way of Hull and Burnley.
This was after he’d said Wolves were magnificent last night.
It wasn’t Man Ure reserves it was about their second and a half team. Fergie didn’t even bother risking Kuscak but played a young lad in goal. It was the most punchless, guileless, gutless Man Ure team I’ve ever seen and that includes the one that got relegated. The match was such a dull affair that even five goals didn’t improve it.
Despite this there are Wulfies crowing about their performance and Saturday’s against a jaded Chelsea side that were on cruise control. They are now confident that they will give Man City a thumping this weekend. Can’t wait.

I agree that they should be given the chance to finish the job. Having said that, if Cox keeps improving he may soon be in the first eleven.

I think Cox is worthy of a start in the Prem. Rank him level with Bednar and he is a great finisher.

I can Cox getting a shout if Morrisson gets injured, he can play as an attacking midfielder.

Fair play Coxy-too good a finisher to be in reserves-victim of the successful system employed by RDM

Ian H, agreed and with Fortune possibly out and St Peter not certain why not try them against Blackpool?

Simon Cox says Albion feel they are ‘unbeatable’ at present, and I think I know why.Having read some of the wolves posts recently, several of ‘em claim Albion are having a really lucky run, where everything is going for us,they can’t believe how much good fortune we are having. So there we have it.We now know the reason why teams like Man. U. and Arsenal can’t beat us.It’s all down to luck.On the other hand, they are moaning that all they get is bad luck, which explains why they haven’t won a league game since the first day of the season,or couldn’t beat a young, inexperienced reserve team last night.I now feel these enlightened souls of wulferhampton have helped me to see the truth,I am so grateful, but at the same time I seem to keep breaking out into uncontrollable laughter.Does anyone know why?

1 – Baggie boy ad, I’m as pleased as you are, great result, but I really hope they DONT get big name look at me players who may unsettle what we already have. The work that RDM, Eddie and Dan Ashworth have done, has shown many in this fickle sport a thing or two. At the start of the season Blackpool had spent the least at 2 million, we were second with almost 14M and Wolves third least with just over 14M. Now look what Blackpool and us have achieved so far compared to some who have spent much more.
Wisdom over wealth is a philosophy many other clubs would do well to follow.

2) yeah, but have you noticed they have stopped posting on here? so not all bad, let them live in their dream world I say.
What price RDM being manager of the month again?

I agree with Cox, all our squad deserve a piece of the collective pie. All should have something to strive for, if we win something the meddles should go to every one in the squad. They would all have done it for the club in any competition.

TRBH – I see LW is “hoping” that we (albion) can stay up this year……
I’m also hoping that we will stop up – but I feel far more confident of our chances than his !!!!

I think if we should get to the semi-final or final, we shall play to win it, the strongest possible team being picked, which may well include young Simon Cox as he progresses at a rate of knots. Unless we get offers for one or two fringe players, I can’t see us adding too many to the current squad in January.

I posted a reply to LW on the dark side over an hour ago that was neither nasty or aggresive – and yet once again i can’t get it printed – yet wolves fans like Laughing and Lone wolf (same person ??) can regularly post really mindless “my dads bigger than your dad” nonsense on here…
I know that many regular baggies fans have found this to be the case yet The albion / wolves forums on here are busy boards with lots of interest – so Would the moderators like to address us and explain how / why this happens ??

It very much seems that we have justified ourselves by the results we have gotten; NO MISTAKING THE FACT that it needs a lot of self belief, as well as skill, craft, determination to go to the bastions of football excellence for many years (old trafford & the emirates)and get sensationally positive results.
I cannot believe we are doing as well as we are in the highest echelons of football, and establishing the fact theat we are a major force to be dealt with, and guarded against, with no complacency from any team in the premiership. I have never seen such power play as I am witnessing, the silky, crisp passes, the enormous workrate, and the sheer organision that every player knows his job so well. I went to the baggies versus Man utd in the 80′s around xmas time, and saw the 5-3 beating we gave them. My heart beats in sheer excitement right now, anytime I step into the Hawthorns..!

So does changing all 11 players mean the FA will raise an eyebrow?!?

14) I ve had that problem in the past, and on our own pages two.
Heres one for you lot to mull over, some one (cant remember who) mentioned that the team we put out last night would have a good shout of winning the championship, and it got me thinking, how do you think they would do against the current Wolves Premiership first 11, and, you know, I reckon they could take them, going on performances against Man City and Leicester?????

14 Happy.
I posted a reply to your post at 12 and guess what? You’ve got it, it disappeared.
It was mildly taking the rip out of Laughing Wolf and an associated item. Also, as I tend to be, it was a bit long winded. I’m getting really tired of taking time to type a post only for someone to decide it’s not suitable. As everyone knows on here, I’m not abusive, I don’t use bad language and I don’t call people names. My worst crime is sarcasm.
I occasionally post on the dark side but often find they disappear for no apparent reason.. The other day I answered one comparing us to Hull. My reply merely pointed out the differences between ourselves and Hull. And yes it was far to contentious too be printed.
I would back your call for someone to explain where these posts go and why.
I don’t know why I expect this to ever see the light of day.

I think the clue is in the name, the League Cup. But seriously the powers that be are less concerned about weakened teams in Cup games as unlike the League it has no bearing on other teams. Wolves got fined for fielding a weakened team in the PL.

14 Happy- I’ve had a similar problem myself, any of my replies to wolves fans comments about Albion over there have gone missing.I’m surprised they even let you post a question asking why it happens.Perhaps they know that saying anything to wolves that they don’t agree with will get a very aggressive response.Maybe even this won’t get posted.Big Bruvver’s watching.

14, Happy,
…don’t even know why i’m bothering with this but…i posted a reply to your post earlier but guess what? yeah, it didn’t appear!! It was basically agreeing whole heartedly with your point, i don’t bother posted much on here these days as most of them disappear, despite not being remotely offensive!
The mods on here are getting so strict with what views we are allowed to have/post, they’re making those nice people in control in North Korea look liberal!
Very rare i post these days, whats the point, when you can’t say anything that might upset our orange friends up the road!

1) I strongly disagree. Please……no big time charlies at our club!!! More than happy with what we have got

Happy, I have exactly the same problem. Never had a post published on the Dark side. Suppose my name (Ref to there Wigan game) don’t help! never post anything offensive but you know what they are like on the dark side…anything that upsets them and they will take to the streets throwing bricks at passing vehicles containing elderly residents because WE MADE THEM! nothing to do with the fact that they are brain dead inbreds

yeah everyone is biased against Baggies fans. yes we played against a third rate Man Utd team, of course we did. ive tried to post remarks on here praising Albion (oh sorry i coudnt have could i because us Wolves fans dont praise Albion) and of course your team is the greatest and your second team would beat our current first team. yes youve had a good start but it is still only nine games in and the point some people are trying to make is remember what Hull and burnley did. that doesnt mean i think you will do the same but it could happen. i hope al the midlands teams stay up its good for the region and im not worried about our position after only nine games of a 38 game season. who takes any notice of LW. he just sprouts crap and is constantly being put in his place over on our threads.

25 Michael- I know you’ve been here before praising Albion, and in truth I would be happy if all the Midland teams were doing well, but most of my posts usually fall into two catagories, both in reply to comments from Wolves fans. The first concerns Lone Wolf, who is a wind-up merchant,so it’s become a bit of a tit-for-tat running joke with him.The other posts are aimed at those Wolves fans that have an arrogant attitude, believing they have a natural right to be the best, they also usually bombard the Albion site with venomous comments during the season, and if Wolves win a couple of games they will come flooding back.I know there are genuine fans such as yourself, whom I respect, but when these other guys attack the Baggies,I feel compelled to defend my club and slap them down.Even if they seem quiet at present,I’m sure most of them are reading what we say,so I’m just milking the situation while it lasts. The better we do,the less we hear from these idiots.

I’ve had so many posts thrown out that were neither abusive or overly aggressive that I’ve given up now, they obviously don’t like me! ( like I’m bothered) however, I always read with interest what’s being said. Dear old Cyril, always so wise. Sir Terry, always a laugh. Happy, TRBH, Bomber, Cantello78, Brierly Hill it’s always a good crack, what a shame that the modorators won’t allow a proper adult debate! But today I’ve noticed a few critical ones are getting thru so in the hope this one makes it good luck to you all. Boing Boing!

Mick 2,
If you don’t think ALBION will do a Burnley, Hull, then why do you mention them?, But keep praying, you don’t know what “luck” you will have. I like the way you cover your dagger with your cloak by pretending to initially agree with our posts. You say after only nine games, it’s surprising how rapid those games diminish, at least we have a few points in the bag to guard us against a barren patch if we have one. What have wolves got when their bubble bursts, because according to Mick wolves are playing well. Can’t see Jarvis putting up with with your situation much longer as it is holding him back.
