Albion’s Scott Carson urging caution
Saturday 23rd October 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Captain Scott Carson today warned West Brom they have lost their ‘shock factor’ as they begin a vital period in their quest for Premier League safety.
The Baggies skipper reckons Roberto Di Matteo’s team have relinquished the element of surprise by beating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and drawing at Manchester United.
And Carson warned his West Brom team-mates that those surprise results will ensure future opponents do not take Albion lightly as he cautioned them against getting carried away with their flying start.
“You have a couple of good results and people start thinking about you finishing in the top half,” said the keeper.
“But for us it’s just about getting 40 points. Yes, we’ve had a good start, but people are probably going to change their mentality and not expect us to be a pushover.
“That means it’s going to be even more difficult for us now to keep going, but it’s important for us to beat the teams around us.”
Carson also believes the results against Arsenal and United has raised expectations among Baggies fans .
But the skipper reckons West Brom are equipped to cope.
He said: “Obviously there will be a lot of expectation surrounding us. But the next few games, where people think we should be beating the likes of Fulham and Blackpool, will be the toughest games we have faced.”

The Sky pundits are split over the game, two go for a Baggies win and two for a draw. However all four go for Chelsea slaughtering Wolves.
Sky, again, say nice things about us and their report with Thomas was very upbeat. They all give us a good chance of staying up, but warn about the fans starting to expect wins against the lower teams. From reading the comments on this site I think that most fans are keeping their feet on the ground and just enjoy each game as it comes.
Well done to every one, we seem to be a better team than previous years.

Scott,
Certainly we’ll be over the moon with our start to the season. I hope I can answer for all our fans by saying ” There are no easy games in the Premiership, Every last point has to be earned”.
With the squad we have my confidence is sky high and ALBION on their day will give the best a game.
