Chris Brunt happy to be underdog

Albion winger Chris Brunt has insisted the Baggies are happy to stay ‘under the radar’ as they try to cash in on their flying start to the Premier League season.
The Northern Ireland international insists the team are content to be written off as ‘little West Brom’ and continue their top-flight survival quest out of the national spotlight.
Vice-captain Jonas Olsson admitted this week he was sick of Albion’s efforts being overlooked despite a shock win at Arsenal and a surprise draw at Manchester United.
Brunt agrees with his team-mate that the Baggies deserve more praise for claiming sixth place in the table, but he believes they can use the lack of attention to their advantage.
He said: “I don’t think it matters. When ‘little West Brom’ are getting results here and there it’s a natural response for everybody to say it’s because the big clubs haven’t played well.
“I don’t think you get upset. It’s only natural with the size of clubs that Manchester United and Arsenal are and the world-class players they have that people pick faults with them.
“You just get on with it. We’re better off staying under the radar and getting on with our own business.
“But I think Jonas has a point. We deserved our win at the Emirates and we deserved our point at Old Trafford and we probably could have got more from the Spurs game if you take away the first 20 minutes.
“In every game we’ve played, barring the Chelsea game on the opening day of the season, we have done well.
“We have probably got fewer points than we deserved because if you look at the Anfield game and the Spurs game at home we should probably have got more from them.
“I think we definitely deserve to be where we are and we could have had more points.”
Albion have claimed an unlikely 12 points from their opening eight games of the season, but Brunt does not believe they should adjust their pre-season targets.
He said: “I still think it’s all about staying up. With the way the club has been over the last 10 years, staying up is an achievement.
“After the start we have had everybody will be expecting big things from us, but if we get past 40 points we will have had a great season.”
