No Albion grudge with Paul Robinson

Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo insists he has no hard feelings towards Paul Robinson – after they settled any differences at the school gates.

The Baggies boss is preparing to welcome Robinson back to the Hawthorns on Saturday, when Bolton visit for a Premier League clash.

And the head coach has no problem with the defender – who demanded a transfer on Di Matteo’s first day in charge – after the pair chatted while collecting their children from school in Leamington Spa.

Di Matteo said: “I didn’t work with him for long. I see him more now than when he was actually at the club, because our kids go to the same school.

“He was a fantastic servant to this club but didn’t want to be here with us any more.

“It was an easy decision then for the club to let him move on.”

Di Matteo has confirmed Robinson wasted no time demanding a move during the Italian’s first morning at the Hawthorns helm.

He laughed: “On the first day I met him I said ‘hi Robbo’ and he basically said ‘Yeah, gaffer I want to leave.’

“I said ‘I’m pleased to meet you too, come and see me after training’. That was our introduction!

“He’s said sorry about it since then, but I think it was just his strong belief he wanted to play in the Premier League.

“It was the same with Jonathan Greening as well. They wanted to stay in the Premier League.”

Robinson will return to Albion with a Bolton side that held Manchester United to a draw last weekend.

Despite the Baggies’ excellent start to the season and their win at Arsenal last week, Di Matteo has cautioned fans against taking victory for granted.

He said: “I hope the fans understand our position and see that Bolton is a difficult game.

“They are one of the teams who are a competitor, even though they have been in the Premier League for many years.

“If we want to have a good season we need to be competitive against teams like them.

“I hope the fans don’t get carried away by the Arsenal result.”

Roberto, many of us have supported Albion for almost centuries. We know the ups and downs of football, especially our very own. The club motto should be,
“He that expecteth nothing, shall not be disappointed”. There was a time in the late 80s and early 90s when it definitely was:
“Abandon hope all ye who enter here”. We older, experienced ones have let the young have their moment of glory, they deserve that,
but from last night they were forbidden to mention Ar****l on these boards.
Sir Terence, are you suggesting Greening was an extra terrestial?

Harsh words about Greening , i rated him to be honest but the Boo Boys didn’t. The crop circles comment was very funny however, indeed i may use that one myself.

    I dont like the `Badge kisser` one
little bit and shall be booing him when he
turns up at the Hawthorns.I have respect for
ex Albion players like Jonathan Greening who
doesnt ask for a transfer request as soon as
Derby County beat you in a play off final.

I remember being very dissapointed when Ian Hamilton left us for Sheff Utd but thats who we were back then, but when Robbo left us I didn’t care too much.

Greening considering the circumstances we benefited vastly out of that deal so again not too bothered.

We will beat Bolton as long as we can keep Davies at bay.

It’s strange that most of the players who left our club to stay in the Premiership have not really established themselves with their new clubs. Perhaps in the final analysis they were not good enough , hence our yo yo label. Does anyone know whats happened to Didi Kamara who I think was loaned to Celtic by Fulham. He seems to have vanished altogether. When you look back it seems that JP worked the oracle with the fees he got for him and Greening although John had been a good servant to our club.

    3 – lol!

Dont think we are taking anything for granted, but while we are on this great run then why not to go all out for the win!

If we get anything less than a draw it will be a disappointment. It would also be nice to keep up our unbeaten Home record, no disrespect but I dont want it to end to the likes of Bolton! Blues home record was priceless last season and we should be looking to emulate something similar.

Welcome back Robbo but hope u have an awful game :)

    9. Kamara is still at Fulham. Anyone remember Nathan Duke Ellington? He’s still on Watford’s books but loaned out to some Greek side! Still claims he has a point to proove. JP got £3.5 million for him. What a strike force that would be – Ellington and Luke Moore backed up by Hartson.

No.7DLB I would sincerely ask you NOT to boo Robbo. It does nothing for the club, brings out the worst in a few mindless supporters who need someone to hate and is VERY POOR SPORTSMANSHIP. We at The Hawthorns are worth more than that. Players come and go. Live with it. Very few become legends.

Iam expecting an easy 3 points against an
average Bolton side which contains a midfeild
    of Petrov,Muamba,Holden,and Lee,plus a donky
at left back and 2 big lumps up front.
This is no offense to Bolton fans but our 5
man midfeild were awsome at Arsenal and will
be to dam good for Bolton at the Hawthorns.
I know Owen Coyle`s cloggers got a draw against Man Utd but Iam pretty sure away from
    home they are pretty terrible.

I read something from Kamara the other day about how we hoping to get his Fulham career going under Hughes…..after 3 seasons of being there. I don’t think he set the world alight at Celtic. Unquestionable ability, but terrible attitude.

    DLB

Bolton drew with Man U last week, were in Europe 2 years ago and have been in the Prem since the year they beat us in the play-offs (2001 I think). They’re obviously not terrible, lets not get ahead of ourselves. It may sound negative but as long as we come away unbeaten then do ourselves justice at Man U, then we’ve got a nice little run up until Christmas to get into a secure position.

I suppose you are one of the people who would
cheer for Bolton if they scored a goal,or maybe even take a snap shot of Petrov taking
a corner,or what about running on the pitch
bare naked with the words `I LOVE BOLTON`
    tatooed on youre back side.
I know the Albion team are excitng to watch
but sometimes I wonder what planet these fans
are on aspecially after clapping the rugby

17.DLB. I tried a gentle request for sportsmanship from you. Some seeds when planted will shove over a boulder. Some fall on stony ground. No prizes for assessing your soil. I can’t remember reading a more juvenile posting than that one you’ve just spewed out! Oh, and a BOAR is a pig. I will still support your right to post whatever you wish as long as it isn’t libellous, but I also reserve the right to ignore them from here on in.
