Albion door still open for Luke Moore
Thursday 30th September 2010, 10:15AM BST.
Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo has refused to close the door on Luke Moore’s Hawthorns career – despite farming him out on loan to Derby County for the next month.
The former Villa striker appears to be in the final months of his time at the club, having been omitted from the 25-man Premier League squad with his contract set to expire in the summer.
But Di Matteo has refused to rule out adding Moore to the group in the January transfer window and has challenged the £3.5million misfit to rediscover his scoring touch.
Di Matteo said: “The market opens again in January and I’ve never shut the door on anybody. We’ve got a few players out on loan and we follow them.
“In January you can change the squad then and this is a chance for him to play week in, week out, score goals and show his ability.”

In all honesty,I hope he does well enough on loan for someone to make an offer so we can get rid. Most young players would give their right arm to have the opportunities that Luke’s been given, but despite both villa and Albion showing great patience,he continues to let down the clubs that have stood by him.In most cases,if a player fails to deliver,he is quickly shown the door, but I’ve lost count how many times Albion have given him another chance, then another, then another….it’s now just too late.

I am reminded of the story of ‘The Prodigal Son’. If R.diM pulls this one off, my admiration for his man-handling will be boundless. We stand to lose £3.5 million squid if it doesn’t work and gain a striker or a good sale if it does.
What is there to lose?
