Walsall's Erhun Oztumer nominated for League One player of the month award
Walsall's Erhun Oztumer has been rewarded for his outstanding form with a nomination for the Sky Bet League One player of the month award.
The 25-year-old netted four goals in seven games as the Saddlers came through October unbeaten.
Oztumer has been nominated alongside Rochdale's Joe Bunney, Zach Clough at Bolton and Sheffield United's Billy Sharp. The winner will be announced on Friday.
But despite the unbeaten month, Saddlers boss Jon Whitney is not up for the manager's award.
Instead the Sky Bet panel has nominated Scunthorpe's Graham Alexander, AFC Wimbledon's Neal Ardley, Bolton's Phil Parkinson and Coventry's Mark Venus.
Alexander led League One pacesetters Scunthorpe to four wins and a draw from their six league games during October.
Ardley matched that record with Wimbledon while Parkinson's Bolton won five of their six matches.
Venus was nominated for taking previously-winless Coventry from bottom spot out of the drop zone, a run which also included a 1-1 draw at the Banks's Stadium.
Meanwhile, trialist Patrick McClean will be part of Walsall's development squad that takes on Burton Albion today.
The 19-year-old, who is the brother of Albion's James McClean, is contracted to Irish side Derry City.
But after joining up with the Saddlers last week, Whitney has extended the trial so the centre-back can feature in today's game.
