Boss Jon Whitney is currently in the middle of a summer overhaul after eight first-team regulars – including the likes of Romaine Sawyers, Jason Demetriou and Milan Lalkovic – opted to depart the Banks's Stadium.

In their place the manager has already made six additions with another two signings expected to be announced shortly.

And Chambers says it's vital Walsall now work for a bright future rather than worry about players that have moved on.

"A lot of players had good seasons last season so other teams were going to be looking at them," the captain said.

"That's the way football is. We've got to look forward now to a new challenge, a new team, a new squad and we want to get back to those levels we hit last season.

"The important thing now is for us to gel as a team as quickly as possible and see where that takes us.

"I don't think you should live in the past. It's happened, there's no point harping on about it –we've got to look forward. It's a fresh new challenge and you've got to be excited by that."
