The creative schemer is one four players who have told the Saddlers board they won't be accepting new deals offered to them last month.

As well as Sawyers, Milan Lalkovic, Paul Downing and Jason Demetriou will be leaving the Banks's Stadium – with Demetriou closing in on a move to Southend.

Sawyers has played more than 130 times for Walsall since joining in 2013 from Albion.

But while he is adored by the majority of fans, he has had his critics who he eluded to in a parting message.

On social networking site Instagram he said: "It's been a great three seasons but it's time to move on.

"Thanks for the love and support and motivational hate throughout my time here. It's been a pleasure."
