The Saddlers boss, who was officially confirmed as the club's permanent manager last Wednesday, spent the whole of last week attending the intensive course in Wales.

Whitney was joined in the classroom and on the training pitch by Stoke stars Ryan Shawcross and Peter Crouch, as well as former Ipswich and Newcastle defender Titus Bramble.

Other notable footballers on the course included ex-Tottenham striker Mido, former Spurs keeper Ian Walker and ex-Saddlers striker Andy Bishop, who is now the manager of Southport.

It ended last Friday, with all participants set to receive their results within 21 days.

Upon it's completion, Whitney tweeted: "Thank you to all the coaches on the Welsh UEFA B course and to all the delegates for putting up with me. What an experience."

Football Association regulations state that to manage a team outside the Premier League a coach has to have completed the UEFA A licence.

But the FA is happy to allow managers who are in employment to work towards achieving the qualification.

If Whitney wanted to go on and manage in the Premier League, however, he would have to complete the UEFA Pro Licence.

Meanwhile, Romaine Sawyers was part of the St Kitts and Nevis side that secured a 1-0 win over Saint Vincent in the second qualifying round for the Caribbean Cup.

Sawyers, who is believed to interesting Championship sides Brentford and Wigan, grabbed an assist to set up Javiem Blanchette for the game's only goal.

The Sugar Boyz will now head into the third qualifying round.
