The striker, who is part of the Saddlers squad taking on Sheffield United today, made his senior debut for Wales on Monday as Chris Coleman's side fell to a 1-0 defeat against Ukraine.

Bradshaw was introduced with 20 minutes to play in Kiev and almost scored in stoppage time with a header from a corner.

Now the 23-year-old is hoping to score the goals that will fire Walsall into the Championship and earn him a place on the plane to France this summer.

"I was so pleased to see Tom make his debut for Wales," Whitney said. "His family are really proud of him and the staff, the players – everyone at the football club is really proud of him. We have all seen the work he has done since he arrived from Shrewsbury.

"His application and work ethic epitomises everything I am about.

"He deserves his rewards and he did well. He has put himself in contention."

Whitney admits he would love to see Bradshaw play in France.

"To see him at the European Championships would mean a great to deal me," he added.
