Ex-Saddler George Bowerman on trial with Kaka's club in the MLS

Former Saddlers striker George Bowerman could be lining up alongside Kaka after being offered a trial in the MLS with Orlando City.

The Sedgley-born 24-year-old had joined AFC Telford on loan from Altrincham less than a fortnight ago and made one substitute appearance.

But he has already moved on after getting an offer from the Florida-based club, who currently have Brazilian World Cup winner Kaka on their books.

"To be fair to George, this was an opportunity he could not turn down," said Bucks assistant boss Larry Chambers.

"We spoke to him, to his agent and both parties agreed for him to go. This is something which could completely transform his lifestyle."

Bowerman came through the youth academy at Walsall and made his debut for the club in a League Cup clash against Middlesbrough in August 2011.

The forward scored 11 times for the Saddlers in 59 appearances, although just 15 of them were starts.

But he was released from the Banks's Stadium in May, 2013, after then-boss Dean Smith said he felt Bowerman had lost his way.

Spells at Woking and Accrington Stanley followed and he had a loan spell with Stourbridge in the Evo-Stik Premier last season.

A move to Vanarama Premier side Altrincham followed in July last year and he started well with four goals before the end of August.

But he netted just once after that and was allowed to drop down a division with the Bucks.

Kaka, on the other hand, has starred for two of the biggest clubs in the world in AC Milan and Real Madrid – as well as turning out for his country 91 times.

As well as lifting the 2002 World Cup with Brazil, the 33-year-old has won the Champions League and league titles in Italy and Spain.

Orlando, who are managed by former Everton striker Adrian Heath, are entering their second campaign in the MLS and finished seventh in the Eastern Conference.
