Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw hopes his goal against Sheffield United will spark another prolific run of form.

The 23-year-old ended a spell of six games without finding the target when he netted in the 1-1 draw with Nigel Adkins' side.

Bradshaw is back in action tonight when Walsall travel to take on Swindon.

And the forward is keen to add to the 10 goals he already has this season.

"As a striker I love getting goals," Bradshaw said. "It's my passion, it's what I love doing. I've had one of those spells where it wasn't quite dropping for me but against Sheffield United it did and these things tend to come in spells.

"I went a few games without a goal but that can happen sometimes. It's possible to score five or six in four games, another time you can go on a run when you don't score. Hopefully now I'm at the start of a run."

Despite his mini-goal drought, Bradshaw– who has now scored 30 times in 58 appearances for the Saddlers – revealed he never doubted his ability to find the target.

"I back myself to score whether it's one game or five games without scoring," he said. "You have to put it into perspective and scoring 10 before December is quite an achievement but I'll keep striving to score more."

"I've said before, the target for any striker first and foremost is to get to 15. Hit that target. "When that comes, I'll be reassessing but I think you've got to be realistic in football."

Tonight's game sees Dean Smith take on his close friend Martin Ling who was appointed Swindon boss earlier this month.

Prior to that, Ling worked as a scout for Walsall and said Smith has done an outstanding job at the Banks's.

"I know the club well – I have done some scouting work for Dean he is a real close friend," Ling said.

"It will be nice to catch up with him but the most important thing is to get the right result for Swindon."
