Star striker Tom Bradshaw believes Walsall made a big statement following their 2-0 win over Burton.

The flying Saddlers moved back to the top of League One thanks to Bradshaw's ninth goal of the season and a drilled first-half strike from Liam Kinsella.

That result came from another impressive performance from Dean Smith's side and the Welsh striker believes it will make other teams stand up and take note.

"To win 2-0 and in the manner which we did was quite a statement," Bradshaw said.

"We've been up against a lot of good teams this year like Burton but again we were the better team.

"Now we are top of the league. It is only 12 games in but to get 25 points is some achievement.

"All the lads are just as hungry now as we were for the first game of the season.

"Hopefully we can keep it going, keep the momentum going and keep picking up results. There is no reason with the squad of players we've got, why we can't."

Bradshaw, who scored 20 goal sin 37 games last season, now stands on the brink of double figures again following his penalty against Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side.

And he would now be disappointed if he only manages his pre-season target of 15.

"It's a dangerous thing to keep revising your tally," he said.

"You set your target and you try to get there. First and foremost before you start revising it.

"I always say a good amount of goals for a season is 15. I've got nine now so I'll be very disappointed to be on 15 at the end of the season. But I don't put too much pressure on myself in terms of scoring goals.

"If I go out there and play my game, do my movement, then goals will come."
