Walsall boss Dean Smith has reiterated his commitment to the club as his side prepares for their top-of-the-table clash with Burton.

The Brewers arrive at the Bank's Stadium tomorrow in a week which saw the Saddlers reject an approach from Rotherham for their popular manager.

And while flattered to receive interest from the Championship, Smith is fully focused on the job he has at Walsall.

He said: "I'm in a job here and that I will do it to the best of my ability, unless I am otherwise told to go and speak to somebody.

"Until that happens, I will keep going on with the job. I think when a club is doing well, the management, staff and players always come under the radar of clubs above.

"We are doing well so other clubs are taking notice."

Smith has remained fully focused on tomorrow's clash with recently promoted Burton – a game which will see Walsall leapfrog their opponents and return to the top of League One with a win.

But the Saddlers will have to do it without Jason Demetriou and Neil Etheridge, who are both away on international duty with Cyprus and the Philippines respectively.

Smith said: "Walsall v Burton on an international weekend in October – no-one would have predicted that it would be a top-of-the-table clash, would they?

"A lot of people would have looked at it and thought that these two clubs would be lower down in the league.

"But we've always had faith in ourselves. We feel we can compete in the top echelons in this league and Burton will feel the same."

Meanwhile, striker Tom Bradshaw has missed out on the Sky Bet Player of the Month award which instead went to Rochdale's Peter Vincenti.
