It's been some year for the Saddlers, who went to Wembley for the first time in March in a losing effort against Bristol City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

But where will this one rank in the club's greatest moments?

When Walsall went to Wembley earlier this year, we took a look at other historic matches:

5. 2001 Walsall 3 Reading 2, Division Two Play-off final, Millennium Stadium

In the first season that the play-offs were contested in Wales, the Saddlers gained promotion to what is now the Championship in a pulsating extra-time nail biter.

With the game 1-1 after 90 minutes, Martin Butler put Reading ahead just a minute into added time.

But a Tony Rougier own goal and superb turn and shot from Darren Byfield sent Ray Graydon's men into League One.

4. 1986-87 Watford 4 Walsall 4, FA Cup fifth round, Vicarage Road

Manager Tommy Coakley was relatively unknown when he took over, but he quietly led the team from the lower half of the table to the fringes of the play-offs.

Even though they narrowly missed out, fans were treated to a great FA Cup run which included a memorable 4-4 draw with Watford.

Chairman Elton John was in the crowd to witness a quite remarkable game that saw the lead change on several occasions.

Watford edged the replay 1-0, but it is still a game many remember fondly to this very day.

3. 2015 Walsall 0 Preston North End 0, Johnstone Paint Trophy second leg, Banks's Stadium.

It may be the only goalless draw to ever make a greatest moments list, but the significance far outweighed the game as a spectacle.

Walsall secured their ticket to Wembley for the very first time in the club's history. The Saddlers upset the odds when going to the League One side and coming away with an excellent 2-0 win.

All that was left was for them to close out in the return leg and they did not disappoint, creating jubilant scenes in the stands and out on the pitch.

2. 1984 Liverpool 2 Walsall 2, Milk Cup semi-final first-leg, Anfield

Walsall were languishing in the Third Division were pitted against European giants Liverpool in the League Cup semi-final.

It was an incredible cup run that saw the Saddlers beat Blackpool, Barnsley, Shrewsbury and Arsenal en route to a sensational showdown with Liverpool.

Some 10,000 fans travelled to Anfield and were witness to a sensational performance, securing a stunning 2-2 draw.

Unfortunately they were outclassed in the return leg, losing 2-0.

1. 1933 Walsall 2 Arsenal 0, FA Cup third Round, Fellows Park.

Regarded as the greatest FA Cup upset ever, Walsall's 2-0 win over Arsenal wipes the floor with Bradford's victory over Chelsea.

At that time, the Gunner's were undoubtedly the very best side in the country, the Saddlers were not.

Back in 1933, Walsall could be found in the lower realms of Division Three Northern Section. A comfortable Arsenal victory was inevitable, but the underdogs has other ideas.

Another 24,032 witnessed a near miracle as second-half goals from Gilbert Alsop (60) and Bill Sheppard (70) sent Fellows Park into delirium.

Arsenal went on to win the league that season and the two following. It's still regarded to this day as one of the golden era's in the Gunners history, which makes the FA Cup win even more astonishing.
