The 35-year-old has worked his way up since joining the club's media department in 2002.

He became assistant secretary in 2009 before taking over his current duties from Roy Whalley in 2010.

Chairman Jeff Bonser said: "Dan has been an integral part of Walsall FC for many years having progressed through the ranks.

"He has a great understanding of the inner workings of the club and has accumulated a wealth of knowledge of the football industry, as a whole, over the last 13 years.

"The time is right for him to make the step up to board level and he will be an invaluable acquisition to the club as a director. I would like to wish him every success in this new and deserved role."

It is a double celebration for Mole, who became a father for the second time last week. He said: "It's not been a bad seven days!

"It is an absolute honour to have been asked to join the board of directors at Walsall Football club.

"I attended my first game almost 25 years ago and will have worked at the club for 13 years this summer. I have loved every minute and, at 35, feel I have a lot more to give.

"It is the proudest day of my professional career and I would like to thank the rest of the board for their continued support.

"I would like to thank Jeff Bonser for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to progress, Roy Whalley for his mentoring and support and Stefan Gamble for his encouragement and backing.

"I would also like to thank all the staff and supporters for making my time at Walsall Football Club such a pleasure."
